:D

A tad under 3 weeks away now.

Weather is lookin good. Plenty of recent rain to add the greenery and rainforrest affect. Stacks of water for the falls photos. This time around because there are so few numbers coming along I want to do the full walk to the base of the falls - I rekken it would be an awesomme sight and experience.

I've got sorta lost on the last four runs I've done up there but rekken I have it sussed now. Side tracked and getting lost is part of the magic of cruisin with an ol fart lol.

I'msa set and ready to rock and roll.

Charter Boat Fishin
Skidpan Day
Dyno Event
Australia Day Cruise

These are all events I'msa doing on a personal level between now and the Queen Mary Falls run at the end of this month. The Queen Mary will round out a nice suite of activities for January 2010 including the Willowbank T&T and a plethora of SEQ and Northern NSW Fishing, Surfin and Snorkelling days/events undertaken across the same month... Chewing on a few King Prawns on a buttered bread roll with coffee in hand is an associated Mandatory. Life is for living, not dreaming...

I would like to reinforce that Massive HP or a V8 are not a pre-requisite; and is in fact generally more of a hinderance due to these cars rarely being set up for daily drive and mountain runs; plus the rediculous running cost and heat generation and disiption issues involved (they are often kewels for forum brags, drags and dyno but certainly not cruise friendly).

Once you try it these "chill out" activities can become quite adictive with anticipation, preparation, excitement and satisfaction. Honestly, ya gotta make the most of every opportunity I rekken.

I feel that I'm quite fortunate in that my personal makeup is that I am very happy to cruise alone and do my own thing in isolation.

Pete

I'll see Pete. I have agreed to be in attendance at the Autobarn thing the night before. Is hard to get away from the family.

As indicated earlier Adam, if ya can you can, if ya can't you can't. I ain't cruise and events coord for BCCC any more, so these things I post are just activities I'm doing anyway - all are welcome to come play if they want. If people come along thats good, if not, thats good too.

Fishin
Golf
Circuit Sprints
Motorkhana
Skidpan
Drags
Mountains and freedom runs
Long Cruises
Short Cruises
Hillclimb
Classic Road rallies
Dyno Days
Go Carts
Speedway

And the Brock Museum were many people committed but ended up with just Darren and me actully turning up.

They have all been put up as activities on BCCC with little response nor interest

I'm absolutely and fully over the apathy of BCCC members and VALIDATED dudes / dudettes (whatever validated actually means) as far as getting out there and smelling the roses, testing the limits and havin fun. I suppose being on internet chat, facebook, MSN, chatrooms and mowing the grass and hunting the Crows away from the mango tree across the weekends is what turns some people on.

The VALIDATED process is a friggen "old boys" club from what I see. Can someone tell me how this process is undertaken? I was admin for BCCC and couldn't get Voodoo validated yet I have known and can vouch for him across three years. How did you Validated people get such status? Just asking the question.

I'm more than happy to debate the matter.

I wish I could get out more.
Gail has had 2 back jobs done and doesn`t work anymore.
I would mow the grass and she would do the shopping and we would put it away when she got home 2 jobs at a time. Now most of the time I go with her for big shops ( two people doing one job no mowing being done) and do the washing that needs to go out on the line and get it off and fold it and put it away because she can`t most of the time.
I used to do a load of washing and put it out in the morning and it would be put away when I got home that doesn`t happen anymore I do it when I get home.
Just not enough time anymore .:(
So sometimes people just can`t make it.:)
Most people when the kids are gone have ME TIME and forget about the times when they couldn`t go somewhere because the kids were sick ect ect.
Don`t be to hard on other people when you haven`t walked in their shoes at this time.
PS. I want Voodoo validated.

Ahh Pete I know.

The bullshit where NZ Shaker was validated even though he hadn't made a presence nor contributed to the club for eons; but was immediately validated, yet Voodoo who had made many generous offers to support the club, was a well known figure, and despite me being admin and putting him up for validated, he was never validated.

BEN you have some answering to do on that - Brad is actually PRESIDENT of BCCC and from what I gather he was totally unaware of the situation.

All I am conveying is fact.

Ok, I'll bite. As I have been writing this reply the post has changed and stuff added. Above in italics was the original post which I am replying to.

All I said was that I may not be able to come because of the Autobarn thing the night before. You know I like this cruise but unfortunately (well actually fortunately) I also have a young family which means I like to do things with them away from the car thing. No more no less. I'm not doing too bad considering I am allowed to go and organise a full weekend overnight drive.

I am quite lucky in that my wife allows me to spend so much time doing the car thing considering the situation we are in. She has no interest in spending a day in the car so to get to spend weekend time with all the boys is is special. My committment to my Commodore and car events are very important to me. I take offence at any comment that says different.

As for the validated matter, this has been discussed a number of times. I dont wish to really debate too much more only to say that Validated doesn't really get you much more on here. I admit that it is a process that has been abused and is being looked at. It was supposed to recognise/reward members that attended some events and meet some admin. Unfortunately as I said these rules were not really adhered to.

As for Voodoo, he didn't really seem to take too much interest in the new forum Pete. He's more than welcome to be part of the club. I dont know him but always seem to be defending posts on here in regards to him. Yes he did make generous offers, I know, but as I said when the new forum went up I didn't really see him.

:)
Goodonya Craig, I was having second thoughts as after the Australia Day run across Mt Mee I think my auto trans is about to die. But the Queen Mary is a great run and lovely stopover; and unless the box blows its guts across the next few days I may as well do what I had planned anyway. It's just my belief, but small groups are way better for cruising than big groups.

I have recently realised that its no good procrastinating and contemplating what "might" have been, may as well get out there and have another fun day in the Great Southeast and anywhere else for that matter.

Details are as per meeting and departure point on the first post of this thread. Meet at 8am and I am gone and cruisin at 8.30am

My phone number is 0407 027 647 if anyone needs to contact me on the day.

Just remember this is not a formal BCCC run as I am not admin; simply a financial member who likes to get out and about almost every weekend. As such, bring what you rekken you will need to eat and drink etc.

yet another awesome sounding cruise Pete. I can't keep up with them all :D

Would love to come along to this one (did a group motorbike ride along a similar route some years ago), but after the dyno day Saturday & Aussie day cruise Tuesday, I've used up my cruise budget for this month :p

Plus got a few other non-car related outings to accomplish over the next few weeks. For all the newbies, Pete always puts on an awesome cruise. Should be a great day guys, enjoy!

Excellent Keith, will be great to see you out and about again :)

Lookin good, water should be fallin. Great sights and sounds.

I got my drinks and B.B.Q stuff all sorta in order. Better git me ass in gear and charge the camera though.

Same as I said to Arif when he phoned this arvy - I ain't out to break any speed records (there is something not quite right with my drive train - dunno what it is atm). Just a nice run in the mountains with some great people and great cars.

I am 'on call' atm and due process is that I have a few reports to analyse and Précis to the heirachy very early am. If an event of high magnitude or turns to suds I have to respond at any time. All going well I rekken I should still be good for the 8.30 am departure.

My phone is 0407 027 647

Goodonya Dave

Was a pretty good day out and great company along for the run.

Rain is only water, hence my persistence in cooking and eating out in the nature environment regardless.

That was my first time walking down to the actual bottom of the falls. Hmm, next time I will bring some oxygen. Sheesh its a steep and long haul back up the other track to base.

My biggest joy is that the Driveline and A6 are still holding up. Second bigest joy was only getting semi-side tracked and lost once on the return home LOL.

I am looking forward to downloading the photos I got of the day.

lost only once pete ?? lol.

Yeh mate I used less than half a tank of fuel for the day - 13 litres per 100 in total across some steep and twisty stuff; so we didn't get too far lost, just a tad waylaid as I misread a sign (shortcut, what shortcut) - whoopsies.

Man it wouldn't be a CalaisRider cruise without some drama happening along the way LOL. :o:o:o

I'msa always up for a cruise Ben. Love to make the Blue Heeler Bark at most opportunities lol.

Thats a nice route with a bit of everything on offer. Some nice photo opportunities as well.

Good distance, without being too long.

BELOW IS A SAMPLE OF 10 FROM THE QUEEN MARY FALLS.

I will put the rest in the photo section. Heading out fishing around Moreton Island with some mates in a 60 foot boat today and tomorrow, so will post the pics sometime next week when I get home. Hopefully some fish and frollic photos of the fishin overnighter too.

Hmm maybe I shouldn't put up the pics of our Fishin Trip ( I have 98 photos). Great time out with the mates and matettes; but thu skipper and boat owner got his hand caught in a sharks mouth that I caught at about 4am. My fault as I asked to weigh the sucker as it was it was part of the betting system on the night. A few panicky moments when the gaff handle snapped as we tried to pry the sharks jaw as open to release Damos hand.

I thought the serious blood splattering the deck was eminating from the shark, but seems I was wrong once again - it was ol mates human blood eminating from the shark bite. Nothing the deck wash didn't clean up though; a few band aids and rags and whatever we could find to stem the blood flow, then back into the fishin and pissup. I found my limit - one 750ml full bottle of Rum on my own sees me doin giberish dumbnut stuff lol.

One thing for sure, I am definately not as tough as yung Damo. He was oh so calm in the Human versus Shark mexican standoff lol.

:o
