Post below if your interested. ;)
PS
I can't wait till March, so will probably be doing a trip out Sunday 17th January as well to check what it's like. Summer is not the greatest offshore fishing time - winter is best.

Yeh Brad, git ya butt along on the 17th January initial one. Its a Half Day outing so I can suss out how things work, have some fun and hopefully a fish or two as well. AND, not get too sunburned.
Hmm, we should have some sort of friendly competition/rivilary going between us as to who gets the biggest fish, most fish, dumbest move, stupidest slip, or somethin like that.
With a couple of us along we can probably get some good photos of the day too.
All going well and with cooler wearther in March, I would be happy to chugg along for a full day. I better take some seasick tablets just in case lol. Depends on feedback as to what folk would prefer - Half Day or Full Day.
1) Chris is obviously for a full day
2) Me for a full day

:o
I dunno what time we get back in to dock Brad, but we could make it just a half day gig on this date; and run a full day another time.
Gold Coast Fishing Charter can take any keen person to prime fishing locations and get you there faster in our 60ft Aerocat powered by 2 x 700hp Scanias.
I'm fully paid for the run out on the 17th January Half day. One week to go, eehaaa!!!

Hey Brad I'm thinking of taking my own rod and reel. Tis a Shimano Tyrnos Overhead 30 Lever Drag reel loaded with 300 metres of 65 pound Braid with 200 metres of 30 pound mono backing, linked to a matching 25kg rated Tyrnos Heavy rod with Sic guides and roller tip (not much good for fishing for whiting though LOL).
In truth I'm just not sure if this would be good, or being my first time out should I just use their gear to find my way on how they do things?
I know in winter (the March run) I will be bringing my Big Shimano Baitrunner D series reel loaded onto my Shimano 25kg rated spinning rod. This is an awesomme all round combo.
At least my creaky painful neck is feeling a tad better which is good. I was quite worried about that for a whilse there as the pain is quite intense most of the time.
Oh and I have my 2 x packs of Seasick Pills purchased and at the ready. I might be a bit drowsy on the day but better than being sick. Some material based band aids to save my fingers burning through on tight lines.
Dunno if you can smoke on the boat so I got a box of nicotine patches too - just in case...
Esky is at the ready, I will load up with drinks of all sorts given its summer.
Half day is good cause it invariably gets windy and choppy seas in the arvy.
Fawwk I'm excited in anticipation!!!!

TWO MORE SLEEPS - and i'm getting itchy and rareing to go.
Hey Brad, I've decided to bring my Tyrnos 65 pound braid big fish combo gear. Not really nececessary as they supply all the fishin suff ya require. If I don't need my rod I will just park it in a corner somehwere This is a friggen big, big boat pushed along by 1,400hp, so plenty of room to stow a rod and small bag of gear.
I'm bringing a few medium/heavyweight poppers as i saw on tonights news that Great Trevally (GTs) of large proportions and Cobia are showing up off Southport. Friggen backbreakers but lotsa fun. I'd still prefer a snapper, pearl perch or even parrot fish as they are better eating.
A small esky with a few cold drinks in it would be advisable.
EEEEHHAAA, bring it awwn!!!!

They cancelled the charter of 17th January. Didn't matter much to me I did a fish and surf day from Broadwater to Tweed which I had fun doin my own thing anyways.
I had pre-paid so they still owe me a charter.
I've asked for Saturday 13th February or Sunday 14th February as thats about the only weekend between now and end of Feb where I have a clear weekend to do it.
I haven't heard back via email yet but banking on it otherwise it will be March before I can find clear space to run out in the wide blue yonder.
All who may be interested are welcome!!!

I went out today as planned. An all day event. Friggen hell of a hot and humid day. Not a lot of fish caught but that's the nature of fishing. I caught a few squire and two parrot fish - at end of day I gave em to the others on board.
Assessment
This is a bloody big and stable boat - 62 foot long and 18 foot wide. 1,200hp combined.
Plenty of room to walk around unhindered
Lots of shade
Plenty of real seats with backrests
The crew are fantastic
The B.B.Q breaky was nice, so was lunch. They have a Full Size Four Burner B.B.Q on board.
They set spanner crab pots on the way out and also have a cooker on board so all is prepped, cooked and ready when you finish. Sheesh they catch a heap of these.
I prefer my own gear using Braid Line, but thats just me. I took my own gear today so was all good.
We fished up to a depth of 250 foot - thats a long way to reel an 8 -10 ounce sinker and fish up from
The deck hands bait your hooks and stuff where required, no probs it just seems to happen.
I fished the enormous bow section for a fair whilse once I got the gist of how things were, even had an afternoon sleep up there.
Did I like it - hell yeh. Did I catch a swag of fish - no. Will I be a repeat customer - yeh.
Unfortunately there has been a hell of a lot of fresh water pumping as a result of recent rains; and today the current was rageing fast enough to ski on, plus a howling northerly wind was a blowing - all are not good for fishing the deep...
I will post on the forum in the events section each time I plan to head out on a run. All welcome!
