Just sussing out if any interest to head out to the wild blue yonder, forget your cares and woes; chill out for a day and aim to nail a big fish or two.

The charter below is something that an old fart can get used to. Friggen huge boat, must be stable, have plenty of space, shade to burn, air conditioned and propper toilets.

Its not the cheapest boat on the Gold Coast but is one serious big boat with comfort galore.

OUT THERE CHARTERS

Thanks gawd I found it in my favorites. I have quite a few ready but this sucker boat is seriously "BIG" and Big has to be better when offshore fishin.

If anyone is up for it, lets aim for somewhere around February after school holidays as a goer. Winter is my preferred time as thats Snapper Time. But there are plenty of Big Mumma Cobia, Jew Fish, Samson Fish, Dolphinfish, Cod and general reefies available in Summer. A Cobia or Jewfish for me would be a dream come true, but if I can get some Parrot Fish that would make my day as they are oh so sweet to eat.

I rekken do a Half Day Charter. We can do cofee, yarn and tall stories from the day, and maybe a short GC cruise after for those not burned out from haulin in the big ones lol.

Awesomme Brad. We can exchange secret info.

On a personal thingy I have a note in my diary to check with these dudes what the next "evening/night" charter is. I prefer the cool of the evening and is generally more productive for fish.

$150 is cheap given the size of the boat and stuff they provide. It's around $90 just to hire a tinny and buzz box engine to go fishin the rivers.

I've never been on a deepwater charter boat fishin expedition, so it will be all new to me. But the more I look into it the more I like the idea.

I actually even wouldnt mind looking at planning a 3 day - but maybe in the middle of the year.....

But I woulf be interested in the 1 day if it was held in March....

As a comparrison, I used to go reef fishing every morning on holidays at Heron Island... back then it was $20 for a morning trip.. and it get's prepared for you in the restaurant that night mmmmmm them was the days lol

I haven't done a night trip either, so good call there Pete. I wonder how the camera will go at night with fish colours?

Now what if there was a BCCC Fishing Trophy that you win by landing the biggest fish of the year. hehe Just to add a bit of competitiveness...

You got any more info on the 3-dayer your pondering on Chris?

:D

Hmm a three dayer sounds interesting Chris.

March is fine by me - only have to put aside a tad over $20 per week to pay for the one dayer if we go that far in advance...

I will give the charter place a flying trial prior to that though.

I'm heading back down the coast fishing again today (Monday 28th Dec 2009), might drop in along the Spit and suss out how far ahead you have to book and stuff.

Holy Crap...I just went back and looked at the price for the 3 days and its $400 per person per day....

But es even a one day in March would be brilliant....good time of year to fish too as its not too hot and not cold. Could also prob justify the contenantal fishing day....thats some big fish you can catch there......

Whoops good catch Adam, thanks for that.

Yuppers lets aim for 2nd week in March 2010 = 13th (Sat) or 14th (Sun). :D

I'm about to head off down the coast fishin within the next half hr or so. Will ask what the bookings are like. Should be fine that far outwardly.

PS
I have an entry in my calendar for Sunday 10th January - Kev's big Cruise BCCC. Is this one still on? Thats not far away if it is

Okays I was down at Southport today and dropped in to the charter boat area.

Fawwk, I dunno what sort of Cam they have in that mean mother supercharged twin deisels but sheit its grumpy and loud at idle - a sorst note to die for lol...

I spoke to the owners whilst they were re-fueling (1,200 litres later utilising two bowers/fuel pumps). Seems that a couple of weeks notice is generally good enough to book.

If we can get 10 people they will do an "evening/night run" by exception and specific to us.. That sounds kewels as it would almost all be mates doing their thing.

They do B.B.Q lunch and tea and coffee and cold water on tap. They have a drink vending machine at $2 a throw for a can - I rekken bring an esky with whatever you prefer to drink and some nibbles (thats all ok).

I will be bringing my own rod and reel, just a personal thing. They supply all that stuff and bait as part of the price.

This boat is enormous. 60 foot long, is a cat, must be best part of 20 foot wide. Ohhh, hell sake it's a long way off the water to the deck though (deep and very high sided). I bags the bow area for fishin. Seems to be capable of 360 degrees fishin across all sections no matter where you are on the boat.

I checked a couple of other charter offerings I have sighted on the web and at the same Marina but they all look dinky, very basic, and not well looked after by comparison.

The owners of the 60 foot mega cat seem preety nice and down to earth people.

*** SHOULD THIS GO ITO THE EVENTS SECTION?

Doesn't bother me as I am definately going on this boat regardless if anyone else goes or not. I rekken if all goes well I will do a run with this mob somewere around 4-6 weeks between charters.

I'm excited!!!

PS
I could "see" heaps of quite decent bream in the water where I was fishing today but despite an almost invisible 6 pound line, no lead/sinker, and bait that I would happily eat for freshness - not a friggen run of any substance. Usual small fry. Aggh the frustration of it all, the fish were simply shut down. It does happen when the weather and water conditions dictate, why, I am not sure but after 40 years of fishing I know to expect the unexpected....

Hi Adam, I put it in the Events section one I put up.

It's $150 for a half day trip and $200 for a full day.

I have just finished booking myself into a Half Day cruise and fish on the 17th January. This will be a sorta "rekke run" to suss it out prior to the BCCC one I put up for a March Date; and will also my first ever charter boat fishin trip. For some reason I am really, really excited about it.

Probably cause I saw the size of this boat yesterday and rekken it will be very user friendly as compared to others that are less than half this boats size. I'm getting too old and bone creaky to be hangin on for dear life in a rollin sea and trying to fish at the same time.

I also know that all that fresh water flooding out of the seaway atm will only assist the prospect of catching a fish or five on the offshore grounds - eehhaa!!! :)

Tuesday's Fishin Tip from the Old Fart :D
Anyone near a river or creek, now is "THE" time to be putting the crab pots in. With this amount of Fresh Water, along with the Warm Weather, and the approaching a Full Moon, the muddies will "definately" be on the move (sheit its the absolute perfect combo to get a big feed)!!! I will be dropping four of my pots in the drink tomorrow, nothin surer LOL.

Anyone who wants to come on the early Offshore Fishin Rekke Run on 17th January is most welcome!!! Just need to make your own arrangements and bookings.
