they raise the shift points of the trans and quicken the time between shifts. Making a firmer shift.
My old 5 ltr statesman had a stage 2 shift in it, once it shifted that hard, it put the stato sideways into on coming traffic. lol.
But in all honesty, i wouldnt bother about putting one on a stock v6. Money would be spent better elsewhere.

have to agree with ben pete, i had a stage 2 B&M shift kit in my VN, an was practicly useless when it warmed up ( V6 series 2 buick motor with T700 auto) cold though was rather interesting haha 2nd gear chirpies whoohoo! hahah ), generally a shift kit is disigned for toeing, anthing up to max rating of your toe bar could do with a 1.5 B&M shift it, will stop the lag between gears and keep from damaging the gear box so much when towing, if you want thou chuck a stage 2 in to the 4L60E an see how it goes, usually range from about $250 - $350 for a stg 2 kit depends where ya shop, to get it put in thou you will have to look around, i got quotes to do the VN one shop was goin to charge me $1000 another guy said gimme half a day and buy me a carton for payment ( family friend ) but turned out it needed a rebuild anyway so cost me $1200 he also chucked a kevlar band in and a corvette servo while he was at it.

i know a place in sydney that will sell the whole kit for the T700's and the 4L60E's usually pretty good on price, kit includes corvette servo, shift kit, boost valves, metal piston ( to piss the 4L60E's plastic one off in the VS's )

really just have to look around, but i do recommend giving burpangary transmissions a bell and speak to them about it, top blokes, low price, and no stuffin around.
