After spending the weekend up in the sunshine hinterland - without the commodore, it was apparent to me that we need to do another run up in that magical part of the world.

Here are some photos of the new fully sealed section of Razorback road which leads down from Montville onto Hunchy Road.

Here is a proposal for a route. It is about 200 k's in length and I can shorten it if people wish. My idea was to start at the Service Centre at Moray field, then take the Glasshouse Mountains exit off the high way straight up to Lansborough. From here is where we take in all the montain roads.

On the way home we drive around the Glasshouse Mountains themselves with this being the last 'stop'.

No dates just yet. I think there is stuff planned for most of Jan. Will look at club 'diary' and propose some dates.

I'm just not sure about all the roads around the base of the glasshouse mountains. Can anybody assure me they are all sealed. Some look like dirt roads on google maps

i know some roads around the mountains that are all sealed.
The way we used to go though was out the d'agular highway, and then take the beerwah - kilcoy road exit and head up the mountains to malaney that way.....
If you like i can go for a drive around there and source out some different ways up if you like.... will take the slr with me :)

It's up to you Ben. I think all that needs to be confirmed is if all the roads I have marked basically beetween 'K' and 'N' are sealed. I'm sure they would be but I would hate to take people down a dirt road. I will blow up that area to show you where I mean. Basically everything up to Peachester will be fine and a goer in my opinion. I'd only change it if people dont want to drive about 200k's

I will go with Adam's recomendation. This is almost exactly what we ran as a BCCC cruise/event a few mths ago but only seven car participants (plenty of photos of the days activity are on BCCC forum).

The issue on that one was all the road works in progress. I assume it's all fixed now. All hail the Obie Obie rd section!!!

Don't forget that unsealed roads are actually fun and an adventure!!! Some of my greatest memories of the hundreds of cruises I have done are that of getting lost or ending up on unsealed roads.

This is the section I wanted some assurance of Ben. I'm pretty sure it is but I haven't been out there for many years and even then I dont remember actually being on any of these roads.

If you do go out there, try and fine some spots where a number of cars could gather together, maybe having one of the Glasshouse mountains in the background.

Hi Adam

If you drive into the township of Glasshouse Mountains you can drive to the base of Mt Tiproghagan (spelling ?) and there is quite a bit of car parks and picnic facilities. Thats one of the bigest mounts of the group. I was dumb enough to try and climb it with my son and daughter a few years ago - sheeeiit, huffin and puffin like an old worn out soldier LOL.

There are a few locations where you may get a backdrop pic from within the township itself - just a suggestion.

I have done this run with my club SCC Adam and is a good one espacially the obi obi.We all met at the ettamonga Pub and headed down that way. As Brad said everyone will need to check the Auto fluid and brakes as the obi obi has some pretty tight turns and is quite steep on the way down and the brakes do get a good workout. If I am not doing anything with my club on that day Adam I might come for a run with you.:)

I'm lost in that little part of the world so any suggestions are great. I remember going to some lookout many years ago which was actually in the group somewhere. Goodjob

Yuppers I'm all set and ready. This one of the Sunny Coast's Finest cruise routes. I have run this a few times now, and there are oh so many sights and options to have a fun day.

So when is it actually happening???

The FIRST POST was in November 2009. Almost 3 mths ago. Surely it ain't that hard to get this simple cruise having an outcome???

The cruise route isn't rocket science, just a nice run in the rural setting. I first did it in 2006.

well to be honest I dont know. So I'm sorry about that.

We are looking at organising something with the Ford XR club and I had suggested we use this as the cruise for it. At this stage that is in planning stages within admin which is why this had not been discussed further.

I like to plan in advance but I'm sorry if this one is not organised yet!!!!!

At that point it was merely a suggestion for 2010. I never put a date on it.

Mate, in my sincere opinion BCCC needs an injection of nice runs like this to engender enthusiasm and comeraraderie. I should leave it at that but cruises and car based personal friendhips are my passion.

No date put on it Adam, but for some reason you had concerns that my Australia Date route would clip a just few kilometres of this proposal of yours from yonks ago that has never eventuated.

Sorry dude I will always put up SEQ best as I run it most weegends. I certainly won't wait till December 2010 to run this basic route of the Sunny Coast Hinterland.

It would be good if the BCCC admin would elect or designate an official Cruise / Events coordinator so we would have some direction and decision across coming months.

I continue to put up cruises and events that I participate in or do regardless; mainly as options for BCCC members to consider and/or participate in. Matters not if there is one or one hundred along for the ride. I actually like to run alone or with one or two good mates as it gives far more flexibility.

No Pete, you are correct no date yet. As I also mentioned in my previous post, we are trying to organise an event with the XR club which is taking some planning. I proposed that cruise for that event. Hence no date.

The reason I made the suggestion of not trying to do the same route was this. You say you want more people to get out and about. I agree. However, people may not be able to do heaps of cruises like you or I. Because the Ford V Holden event is planning to big one, I would prefer to have more of the club there than one a standard cruise. These people may not be interested if 3 or 4 weeks prior they did a cruise running on same roads.

It was only ever a proposal. I'm pretty sure I said right in the begining it was only a proposal. It's the 19th Jan. Pretty much start of the year. We have dyno day this week, an Autobarn thing the week after. There are people in this club who wish to cruise and there are others that wish to show off their car. Is that so bad?

You can put up whatever cruise you like. I never had a bad with that. I am concentrating on getting the XR event to be massive.

I'm sorry it hasn't been run through BCCC yet but as you said, you go out with small numbers all the time so why can you not do this one.

If you want a tentative date, it is April. It was going to be Easter Weekend but I suggested that that may stop people going away or stop us getting big numbers because people are away.
