Figured id start a thread up for those who enjoy to wet a line.
Curious to find out what spots and what people use to catch what ?
Ive been helping my brother the past few weeks finish building his boat.
Looking forward to going back down to yamba in feb to hunt some monster flathead and jew's.
Soft plastics for the flatty's. and pilchards for the jew's, or night time at middle wall with live bait.

As i work in the seafood industry, ive also heard lots about the scarbrough reef as of late. about a kay of woody point... getting 3 - 4 kg snapper out there at the moment....

Lovely piece of kit. :D

Man she would have been lumpy on the Bay heading across and back to the Tagas Wrecks today.

I just this minute got home from a fish and surf at the Gold Coast near the sand pumping jetty. Hells bells it was blowing a gale. Had to use half a cannon ball to even get the line out to the gutter.

Boy the coppas were out in force at the spit today. All sorts of cars got pulled over but I didn't witness anyone doing anything wrong. Must have been car roadworthy and modifications type checks. They gave mine a good hard look as I drove past and did a lap or two but didn't pull me over.

Yeah Pete it was a bit ordinary coming back from the wrecks but the trip over was good Nice and flat. It is a lovely spot over there me, Amber and a couple of my mates went over. I just sat back in the water drinking a corona and lemon watching the boats go by and enjoying the over all atmosphere. There was a shitload of boats over there that was for sure haha bit like going to woolworths paralell parking at it.s best I am going to be spending quite a few sundays over there in the coming summer months that is for sure. The water is clear as crystal you can see the bottom as clear as day in about 7mtrs of water. I will be getting a little inflatable soon with a 3hp merc on the back so i can anchor the boat out in the water and just pack the inflatable up and come into the beach on it. The thing I like about getting out over there is all your worries go away as soon as I fire that 90hp merc up and hear it going flat out knowing where your going to be in about 25mins.:)

Ahhhg, I went fishin down south tonight. The mates cruiser boat overnighter at Moreton got canned.

All was good albeit no fish, then it rained, oh well its only water. Naggh after an hour of getting sprayed it was enough for me - home was looking pretty cosy.

Some fantastic looking gutters and drains on the beaches atm but no fish in em. :(

Would have been cheaper to buy fish rather than bait and fuel, but that's no fun...

:D

I got back from my Hi Torque diff fitup, tune tweak and subsequest fishing of the Tweed a coupla hrs ago. Damned the Tweed is oh so more productive than the Southport area.

I scored 16 bream in total, but only kept two - one was 36 cm on the lie detector. Man it was one hell of a tussle, this old blue nose obviously had experience and tried some tricks that I wasn't ready for in amongst the oyster laden rocks, but end of day it was my prise and dinner plate tomorra. .. Very satifying and stress reliever evening.

I lobbed some crab pots in but no takers.

i found behind the tweed heads gold club was always good for a heap of bream, there is a good spot where you can pump yabbies as bait and cast in tha same spot.

Ahh so you can get onto yabbies behind the golf club Andrew. Is it far northward of the main car park?

I was all set to go WB T&T tonight but has been cancelled so I may as well shoot back down the coast for a spot of night fishin.

when u go into the car park. go around to back to where the club jetty is, you will see a dirt road that goes between the gold course and the river, follow it all the way to the end, and u will come to the only sand beach there, thats where i fish and thats where the yabbies are.

u will know when ur there by the 3 or 4 very blouders there.

Kewels, I have been there but only once way back when. Getting onto a yabby bank from the shore isn't that easy in the Tweed. I will give it a look next time I'm down Andrew.

I generally fish the fingal side just west of where the golf club is - where the lake enterers the main river via a really narrow channel/creek "Lazy ass" fishin as the car is within a few metres of the water. Still way cheaper to buy fish but I do love the art of angling. That 36cm bream last night was in less than a metre of water, right up near the bank.

Okays, change of plan; I've been to the fish shop this arvy, got my bait but seems storms all over the place, hence planning an early morning run tomorra.

PS
Guys and Gals please take it easy on the roads tonight, they are "greasy as" and very slippery - sideways heaven without really trying when I was at the fish shop, very unpredictable. Probably because its so long since we have had any decent rain.

I found myself slippin and a slidin on the rocks when fishin, and when the pounding waves came on I also discovered that I was not as nimble as I used to be way back when hangin on for grim life was fun and easy and just part of the fishin gig. :o

These are my new insurance policies. Man they hang on tight when the pressure and slippery rocks with wave actions impact on fishin. Surprisingly I have found them to be like superglue even when walking the normal Breakwall Rocks in the dry - that was a bonus that I didn't think would happen. All Hail Bunnings Wearhouse lol :)

Sample pics below - at last they are Nike Airs, but would actually be better served with a more rigid sole material.

Ah buggered if I know Andrew. I went to the Tweed again today - Saturday 26th December 09. I did a bit of a look see and fish around the back of the Golf Club prior to going to the Fingal side that I know pretty well.

I went for a bit of Lure fishin behind the golf club and looks promising and worth a serious go sometime ( large Whitebait or Frogmouth Pillies would do the trick I rekken). I stopped off at a few locations along Alf Rush Memorial Drive behind the golf club and did find some boulders right at the end. Couldn't find any yabby banks though.

Weired, it was pouring rain at our place all morning, I figured the T&T drags would be cancelled so went fishin. Gawwd it was sunny, bloody hot, and rediculously humid, with not a hint of rain at the Tweed (from 11am tp 7pm). Friggen sunburned face and head once again; seems I put the hat on a tad too late.

All is okay. As part of my usual rekke to find new and interesting locations to fish I found a spot at Terranora Creek where I can pump some yabbies. My mainstay bait is Mullet fillet, but good to have a bit of variety;)

PS
I got quite a few small and average fish today all thrown back; but last week when I was down there I go a 37 and 32 cm pair in amongst the others (after dark). Geese these suckers are tough on dirty tricks in amongst the oyster crusted rocks. 37 is really getting up in the big bream category although I have caught a quite few in the 38 and one in the 39 cm length this summer which I am extactic with. But My goal is 40 cm which is the full length of the fish measuring ruler thingy (close but no Gold Ring yet).

You have been busy mate.. Nice flathead.

The shoes.... lol... If they stop you disappearing amongst the barnicles.. it's all good ey, lol.

I hear on the radio that near the DPI marker for the shipping container full of amonium that was lost overboard, there is a brown substance that is trailing from the area that is giving the fisherman grief, one guy said he couldn't get it off his line...

I also heard that there was a large quantity of wood lost overboard in the bay, from 1 foot to a whole beam in length... They said one fella hit a piece and got a 4" gash torn in his hull.... f*** that.
