i was just driving home along the warrego Highway when my CD played started to play up and than turned it self off...
than my air con just seems to stop......
than i watched my speedo go from 100kmh down 70kmh with out the revs changing, than my fuel gauge dropped from 3/4s down to 1/8th...... and temperature gauge just dropped to the bottom.......

i thought to my self.. this is really strange...

As i was nearly home i thought i would push on and check it out when i got home... after leaving the highway i realise my indicators didn't work any more...

and than only 3 streets away the car started coughing a splattering... and as i pulled into my driveway the engine warning light came on...

i have a feeling it's the alternator..

i know it is definitely electrical

any help?

i had the exact same thing happen to me when i was on the way back from maryborough. Got to gympie, the stezza turned off, and i noticed the battery light was on, got to noosa, lost head lights, had to drive with no lights (stupid i know), got to the twin Mobile servos' and noticed had no gauges working, then almost made it home, got to the big fish and the car started to die when i accelorated, then it eventually just died completley.

So i dare say ur pretty close to the money there kev.... Got a spare battery u can put in and see what happens ???

check the battery & charge voltage with a multimeter or battery tester

had a similar thing happen to the VN, turned out to be the voltage regulator, replaced it and all worked well again, there 2 spring'd bushes on the voltage regualtor that wear down over time, then they loose contact with the alternator, check this first before replacing big parts, autobarn sell them for ( shit i really cant remember if it was $25 or $75 )

all else fails there, check ya earths

don't have a multimeter :(

go to supercheap and buy one - you can get one for around $20 (don't need anything fancy)
Really with modern cars everyone should have one in their tool box
