ok so a friend of mine has a toyota lexan and its only running on 4 cylinders she just had the 3/6 coil pack replaced and it worked fine then she drove it all the way from vic to brisbane and when she got here it started to play up again.

so i had a look and its not firing on 3 and 6 so we replaced all the coil packs spark plug leads and the injectors the fuel pump and fuel filter and sill playing up

any ideas on what it might be would be grate

the way i tested to see if there was spark was unplugging the injector plugs when i got to 3 and 6 it didnt change in the way it ran but when i unpluged the other 4(1 at a time) it made a change

its got me pissed off that i cant figure it out

Could be the dfi module, the little plate looking thing that the coils sit on... They are quite common to go. usually they will go if you play around with the coils... easy to replace if need be, and about $60 from the wreckers.

its a risk u take, i only ever replaced the one on my old calais, didnt bother me using a second hand one... Just have to weigh up the cost difference between new and second hand i guess.

New ones are very expensive. Get a second hand one, or even see if someone has one you can borrow, and if after you work out it is the problem, the buy a new one if you like. Otherwise if you buy a new one straight up and its not that, there is a lot of money down the drain.

Also in saying that, new ones usually don't come with a warranty. Just like most coil's, ignition modules, etc. They are an electrical part that can die very quickly. Unfortunately its just part of the game.
