yeah, id say ease off the clutch the first few time's, work out how much power u can put down with out breaking too much traction.

Hey Craig, not too sure on the intricacies of launching in a manual at Willowbank but I had a ball the last time I had a go. It was my first time too, it's an experience thats for sure..Personally I wouldn't get too hung up on trying to achieve a good reaction time, it's all about seeing what time your car runs...whether you get a 0.400 or 3 second reaction time you still run the same time if that makes sense..you may loose the race but the time is your main aim..In a manual I imagine getting off the line without creating a huge cloud of smoke is the tricky bit..I need to get out there again soon and have a go in this car, haven't run the Monaro yet...
Cheers

yeah, what mark said is true craig, if the light goes green, u can sit there for 10 seconds, but your time wont start untill your car moves off the line....

Yeh Brad, I had a new set of tyres on at last nights T&T. Promised myself no big smoke shows, so I just belted the go pedal at the pad whith no use of the brake and figured that would clean the tyres without too much rubber burning.

Hmm, I didn't account for my LSD being buggered. I checked this morning and the right rear guard is litterally spattered and covered with rubber and some big blobs of it at that - the left side rear guard is clean as a whistle. :o

Yeh The Harrop Tru Trac was supposed to be in the Calais-V this week. Hi Torque are doing the fitup.

Aparently Harrop are in the thows of making some changes to the Tru Trac, they said to Kent that mine is first off the assembly with the new enhancements (whatever that is?). The diff gears ratio was upped from 2.92 to 3.7 about two years ago. The Tru Trac is a gear based mechanical LSD, so should outlast the life of the car.

Bottom line is that my current LSD is a single spinner big time (second one I have totally burned out to date - bloody Holden HSV crap). The Harrop and other stuff will be sorted across the coming week hopefully.

All going well on the personal savings side of things it should have cam, tune, engine strengthen, Tru Trac and 3k Dominator stallie all very well sorted by Christmas 09. Not that far away. I'm not even considering Head Mods at this stage way too expensive for the moderate power gains on the L98. The goal for me is now an 11 second Luxo Heavyweight sleeper that is mainly my wife's daily driver. Once done I "must" re-focus on funding my retirement days.

The thing to remember is that the Luxo is always going to be a Normal Aspirated, so there are a whole heap of cars out there that are far more powerful than me on the Dyno, and way quicker in a straight line 400 metres. But the Calais looks and sounds almost stock and is a pearler of a daily driver - that has always been the goal. Additionally it does go round corners quick and without fuss thanks to the Quadrant Springs and Bilstein Dampers; plus some steering geometry changes made about a year ago.

Bit of an all rounder I suppose.
