My new toy (non commodore)

Just purchased this today from country Victoria.

Unrestored HQ Monaro GTS in Mustard Yellow with excellent original black trim. Factory 253 V8 with M20 4 speed now running a 308 V8 with stage 3 Yella Terra heads, 4BBL Quadrajet, big cam, blue printed and balanced. 3.08:1 LSD diff. 5 GTS wheels, original radio, jack in foam holder and original no. plates. No rust in floors or chassis rails. VIC rego. NE Victoria Country car.

Should get it at the end of the week or early next week.

Yeh, I have always loved the HQ's. Would of liked a 2 door but the price they are going for is over the top. This one was the right price and is the same as I had many years ago.

It has some panel rust but nothing structural. I will be bringing it out to some of the cruises that will allow non commodores.

Started to take the car apart so we can fix rust and respray inside and out.
Will get most of the panels acid stripped and start from there.

Yes, it will be the same original colour.

Getting there slowly. Rust was found mainly on the drivers side. The 2 doors, bottom of front guard and the rear dogleg. Other than that, its very good. The floor has no rust at all.

Looks great to me... looks very sound for what I can see in the pics....

Yeh Adam, it does need a bit of work to get it up to scratch but it is in above average condition for its 38 years of age. The HQ's normally rust out around the front and rear screens and the floors. This one doesn't seem to have any structural damage either. This will be more of a tidy up than a rebuild and should have it done by xmas, hopefully

i agree even back in the day mine had cracks in the floor from the rear suspension mounting points
does look like it's had a full respray at some stage not that thats a bad thing

Bit of an update. Car is now at the painters.
Nose cone acid dipped and bonnet and boot in primer. No bog :bouncing:
Should be picking up the doors tomorrow from the strippers.

Bit of an update.

Had a small setback with the new front screen fitted about 2 months ago cracking. Not too sure why but have replaced it and is now ready for rego.
Hopefully the rain will stay away so I can get it out of the shed.
