Despite what the plates say this is a car that is floating around sydney at the moment... Not street legal or Registered of course

Car is now 99% complete, I have driven it, But still needs tuning.
New fitted with VN shorten diff, VN front struts and VN disc brakes all round, Pulls up good.
I wanted to put the interior back in as i want to enter into power cruise plus i want it to look as stock as i can.

Mate i would love to see you try to out drag some of the Hyundais that are part of the club(Hyper),

:P

there is one that floats around Logan area good for high 13's, actually got a 12.9 on slicks

now for a Hyundai..........

Im no saying they cant be quick...Im saying (this model in particular) is very poorly assembled - has a very high theft rate owing to almost everything on the car being snap.....

I have never driven a Hyundai that has made me want to get into the car of a morning.

I know of about 50 people across Australia who currently own that model Hyundai that would VERY strongly disagree with that comment:
www.excelrally.com.au

I personally tried VERY hard for 2 seasons to break it, and failed miserably. Instead I managed to knock of WRXs and Evos, take outright stage wins at Rally QLD last year, and was first 2WD in the 2009 QLD Clubman Rally Championship... Apart from DMS suspension, post manifold exhaust, and a roll cage, every other part of my car was stock Hyundai* (because it's a one make series and the rules don't let you do anything else):

In fact, the X3 Excel is currently the ONLY factory rally car in Australia:

* Actually less that stock Hyundai, because I removed, and didn't replace both front and rear sway bars...

For me, it seems that this Hyundai model is still good and only needs some modification. If it was me, I'll upgrade its hyundai parts (http://www.racepages.com/oem/hyundai.html).

now that is some great work!! What a sleeper!
only thing i'd do is paint the lower half of the intercooler black and get rid of the bonnet pins, so it looks completely stock.

a mate of mine used to own about the same model Excel, (not sure if it was the exact same year, they all look kind of the same). He picked it up as a cheap daily driver. Never washed it, never changed the oil and used to drive it fairly hard. Never missed a beat apart from a dead spark lead at one stage. Eventually the paint started to come off, and the body was knocked around (he left it out in a hailstorm at work). He wanted airconditioning, so eventually he decided to upgrade. He knew he'd get nothing for it, so he tried to break it for a couple of weeks, before eventually giving up. He couldn't break it. So he ended up taking off the plates and leaving it outside a wrecker lol :bouncing:

Not about to knock anyones pride and joy. All I can say is each to their own. Not on my list of things to buy.

Alot of works gone into that! Great job!
I've owned an excel and accent back in the day. I disagree with anyone who says Hyundai's are crap as they both held up strong with my treatment :) For some reason lower powered cars, I thrashed. The more power, the more cruising gets done lol Go figure....

my feelings as well, so im trading in ute & getting a daily (VW Golf 90TSI) alot slower but alot less expensive to run. then in a coupla yrs i will be building a 'Westfield' for my fun fix.
