Well I have had the new 3.7 gears in the car for a week now and I cant believe what a difference it has made. The car feels great off the mark. I totally recommend it anyonne 'thinking' about it. If I had my time again, I probably would have done this alot earlier in the piece.

Once again Chris and the boys looked after me very well and apart from a small cam reverb problem we cant seem to fix (but they are doing everything to help), everything is going fine.

Thanks again guys

sounds good adam im thinking this would be a good investment also, how do u find it on the highway?

Brad, I honestly dont notice a difference. If I was to make one comment it is that I dont seem to want to use 6th much. It pulls very nicely in 5th. I only use 6th for real relaxed putting around on the highway now.

Yeah i went from 2.92 to 3.45 as you know adam... hugh difference through a stalled auto.. one of the better mods to do IMO... economy got better as well as i could lock the TCC earlier

should have gone 4.11's LoL.

what u have gone is a nice middle ground, i reckon diff gears are one of the best bang for your buck mods around.

Yeh just a personal opinion having blown Three sets of diff gears and onto my fourth.

My setup on A6 is currently 3.7 diff ratio on auto six speed with stock stallie (upped from 2.8 OE).

VE "Auto" - Best match (N/A) = 3.9s

VE "Manual" - Best Match (N/A) = 4.11s

As I said up front, this is just how I see it given my testing of 2.8, 3.4 and 3.7 diff ratios, many will have differing opinions to mine of course. As power encroaches on 400-500 rwkw, the wise thing to do is head backwards and downsize the diff ratio to that of stock or even below. The Tru Trac mechanical LSD is something to consider if you are going to bunt the absolute limits of modified VE frequently.

Hi Ratio Diff gears are way excessive for the likes of Brad or Paul's cars with their V8 TT humungo hp cars. I assume they would be heading to a downsizing of ratio with that much power on tap.

For my moderate 310rwk and stocko A6 and stallie I would like 3.9 ratio and would be very satisfied with that.

my choice was based on recommendations from Kent. It was really based on the fact that my car is a daily peak hour traffic car which has some playful runs from time to time. It isn't a track car or a drift car.

We did consider the 4.11's but he felt they were too high for me. The other good thing about using the HSV gearing is you can buy the complete diff. And the new ones are shot peened hardened.

As Pete said. this is just my opinion.

and my comment above about not noticing a difference AJ was more that I dont really notice a higher rev on the highway. It's probably there, just dont notice it. I am quite happy with this choice and as I said, if I built a car again, this would be one of the first mods to do.

Just do it. One of the best mods around for the money. I was going to go 3.7 but was talked into 3.9s and I'm glad I did. Even on the motorway the RPM is about 2500rpm @ 110km/h. Around town it is much more lively and helps with the loss of low down torque from that cam you have.

Cheers Chris

yea i want the gears to help with how we have the car tunes, as it is tuned with the 4ooorpm stall it will lock up in 3rd at 60kph which is awsome for around town but it sits on the cam i love it but wife hates it so car rocks to the cam lmao

I would love to put a lower ratio diff in mine so i could actually stay in a gear for more then 2sec, the problem though with big power auto's in the ve's (i'm on low boost of 400+rwkw and waiting to turn it up to or over 500rwkw) the boxes cant handle much more power which is why i am holding off turning the boost up but the lower ratio diff gears will put even more stress on the gearbox its actually a pain in the arse.
