First of all what a tough COTM, they are getting harder and harder as the year progresses! The winner obviously was Mick and his mint condition 2005 HSV Clubsport.
Mick has been a holden fan through and through. Having owned a 1995 model VS Clubby which was kept in pristine condition he decided it was time for an upgrade. SO after selling the clubby to another member and his neighbour Bundy Bear, who has kept it in as good condition, He purchased the 2005 model soon after.
And what a step up it was. One easily noticable thing was the difference in power. The LS2 6 litre really gives a nice kick in the pants, especially over the good old holden 5 litre!
Painted in the striking colour Fusion, it isnt hard to notice this beast, and the standard clubsport bodykit just enhances the look even further. Build Number 1236 rolled off the HSV plant line in 2005, and i can guarantee you it wont be leaving Micks hands for a long time to come.
Not one to rest on his laruels and good looks of the clubby, Mick has performed a few Bolt on mods to open the power output of the 6 litre a bit more, with a intake and exhaust mod that has given it a nice boost in power. A big mouth air filter kit has been fitted, as well as Pacemaker headers with a 2 3/4" exhaust system which gives the clubby a very nice growl. These mods, matched with a Maftune from Powertorque has given the clubby a net result of 245kW at the wheels, very good gain indeed!
Putting all those kW to the rear wheels is the responsibility of the stock t56 6 speed manual box and standard LSD diff. Keeping the Clubby in touch with the tarmac are the standard HSV VZ Rims wrapped in ADVAN Sport tyres.
As with most HSVs, the braking of this car hasnt been overlooked. HSV 4pot calipers feature on the fron and 2 pots pull up the rear. HSV slotted rotors also feature in an excellent braking package.
All in all a very potent package wrapped in a gorgeous body, and one fine example of a model that has been meticulously maintained by a fastidious owner, and he should be proud to have it sitting in his garage. Congrats Mick!
