People i am looking at the camping option Friday to Sunday, wanting to make a good weekend of it. Even if you do not yet have your car ready for this, it would still be great for a BCCC weekend event.:bouncing::bouncing::bouncing:

I would like too see some tentative numbers, I know Ben and Lance will be there.:angel::angel:

So come on people lets see weekenders, and also those that are coming on a daily basis.:mobile:

regards
Paul

i think im gonna out there on the thursday and sent my tent up and get a good spot.
The tent i have is massive, so if anyone wants to camp, let me know, We had 6 of us in it at powercruise 2 years ago, and still had a spare room in the tent which we used as a kitchen. lol.

as of today I may actually be coming. My wife saw a big bilboard for it on the Logan Motorway and asked if I was going. I said I wanted to and she said we could move some things around if I did....... :headbang:

I would like to camp but I would only be there for Saturday and Sunday. So not sure how that works best.

yeah iv'e been reading this topic on LS1 for months now.... very upsetting & very poorly handled by Powercruise organisers (GUP). I can see both sides to this, the legal side & the discrimination side.. But definitely could be handled in a more civilized manner by Gup. The poor guys already been through enough shit in his life.

Has anyone seen biker boys? if you have you would of seen the 3 wheeled spider driving by the disabled fella? a close mate of mine races one around Phillip Island ALL THE BLOODY TIME, the only thing the organizers of the event ask is if they can see him get out of it in a set amount of time ( which is piss easy for him ) then its no worries go for gold, i just showed that tread to him and he is seriously pissed off :tut: his a lawyer to lol

this is his ride, spent a few bob getting it to, and he drives it to work daily, cant find anypics of his bike thou, but its exactly like that but in Holden tigra mica :D

I can understand this guys disappointment, but often it isn't the organisers decision. It's their insurer who won't allow it.
However they should have done their homework first and advised the guy there was no point driving all the way there, rather than telling him when he arrived.

From what I can see a disabled person cannot be discriminated against for insurance reasons eg: still have same rules as a able person

yeah they sure can. It happens every day (I used to work in insurance). Although they don't refer to it as discrimination
insurance companies have the right to risk assess and either increase premiums or refuse insurance based on that assessment.
It's the same reason male drivers usually pay more insurance than females, under 25's pay more etc. It is discrimination, but the law allows it.
And an organiser of a motorsport event isn't going to risk voiding their insurance cover by breaking the conditions of their policy.

i understand with prices however one cannot be refused entery because of said injury when the bloke standing next to him is more likely to be involved in a acco because he is less aware of what the outcome could be, at the end of the day i think it was a poor act of judgment and should of atlease been alloud to prove that he can drive i mean he has a valid liscence, really insurance it would be void on a race track and you pay a set public liability at a event of that size i would be certain that there are people on the track that are disabled in a way and or pose more of a risk, the fella that crashed at darwin from reports was cuz or his meth froze the tb

terms & conditions include this clause, so they can refuse entry.
All Entrants/Drivers/Vehicles are accepted at the discretion of the promoter.

Any event like this must have liability insurance, even if they make you sign an indeminity form, the event will still have insurance as indeminity's can and often are overuled in court. And that insurance cover will have conditions which may not cover drivers with serious physical disabilities such as a paraplegic participating in a motorsport event.

I agree it may not sound logical or fair at face value, but it's the real world where people get sued for liability when things go wrong. If you were the event organiser, would you risk breaking the conditions of your insurance policy in order to let this guy in ? Because if something did happen, it could cost you everything you own, and possibly even a criminal charge....

it does sound like a rough deal and I totally empathise with the guy, but I'm sure the event organisers didn't decline this guys entry without good reason. Need to put yourself in their position.

i can see where gup and his team are coming from however was handled in a way that in todays society is considered not acceptable

Darren

the main issue I see where they handled it badly, is they didn't advise him of the situation before he made the 250km trip over there. Which I agree wasn't handled well at all. He should have been advised that his entry would not be accepted at his initial enquiry, at which point (from what I understand), he did make it clear that he was disabled.
