Guys
Am thinking of getting one of those aftermarket power steering reservoirs (either the ASE one or the PWR one).
What is the best method of removing the original one. I take it this would be the same method for all late model commodores from VT onwards.
Cheers in advance

Have found out the hard way why the reservoirs are plastic. Its because the thick alloy ones hold in the heat and cause the fluid to boil. Have asked about a cooler and if that would help but all the sugestions from people in the know and members from other forums is to replace it with the plastic one. Not sure if they can be relocated somehow to a "cooler" spot away from the motor.
Good for bling factor but not practical. :thumbs down:

;)
Yup, thats why I have an in line Power Steer cooler (just precautionary as I've previously cooked fluid a few times). The aftermarket aluminium type that I have certainly gets hot to touch but they generally carry bigger volumes of fluid per reservois size compared to stock though. Probably only matters if your prone to hammer the car for extended periods.
Some people mount them on an extension over near the left guard trying to find a less hot area to the standard fitment location. I'd prefer just put an appropriate size cooler in front of the radiator and be sure under all circumstances (a proper cooler adds a significant amount of additional volume to stock, and adirect cooling of the fluid).
Food for thought.

if ya playing around with the powersteering you might as well chuck a powersteering line filter on it to, im about to do the same to mine ( VS V6 ) saves wear on the pump and rack :)
