I wouldnt mind so much if i had the pleasure of driving on nice smooth roads with out all the pot holes and filled in spots the other thing that gts me angry is we are expected to pay so much for rego and yet there is so many toll roads as well that we have to pay for they should be included in the rego for the price they expect us to pay:not fair:

2 words It sucks and this government is a joke they are broke and are looking at every avenue to pay back the massive debt they have put us in. WA rego for a V8 is $600.00.:no no no:

to add insult to injury, just about every new motorway & bridge built is a toll road. We pay more rego, yet are paying tolls to use the roads that regos are supposed to pay for......

Problem is the toll roads are private roads. The company owning them needs to earn cash.

While the government may own the shares of these companys that own those roads the fact still remains that those roads are private. The board of directors are not government.

Sure the shareholders have say in the company. But the only real benifit of being the shareholder is money on return of investment.

I reckon rego should be charged on how many kilometers you drive, not a flat fee

yeah that would be good paying the amount of km's you drive but how are they going to check how much you drive?? with some sort of gps device ? i dont think so, or maybe when you go to pay your rego you tell them how many k's you have done since last rego, how easy is it going to be to turn back your odometer... they wouldnt do something like that because theres to many ways to cheet it

part of the problem is that the brisbane city council dont do any of the road works anymore its out sorced to compenys and they charge shit loads to do it and then they say we can hold off on getting that road fixed for 3 more years mean while were still paying for roads that arnt getting fixed and when they are fixed by out sorced compenys they do a shit job and the roads are full of pot holes again when it rains..... its a joke

Im against the per k charge becasue I average between 30000 to 40000 per yer between the two cars...

I find the rego is expensive and the government sees rego as an easy cash cow because we are all stupid enough to pay any amount set down..

Now the 2010-2011 state budget contained a rego reduction by a small amount being removed from the CTP charges.

i think I might start subjecting the car to annual roadworthys and register in NSW

i reckon it should be based on the weight of the car, a 40t truck or a 2t landcruiser with cause more damage to the road then my 1400kg commodore.

i reckon that way it would be fair, the heavier you are the more you pay.

NSW is by weight from memory

By km's could be done for $30 parts per vehicle. Simple circuit to read speedo pulses in a tamperproof case. Retrofitting older vehicles would be a no go. Just hit them a flat rate.

Naturally 40 thou a year wouldn't cost that much. But if we are going to be a fair society for all then per km is the only way.

On another note, to resurface a 100 meter stretch of road (2 lanes + 1.2m skirting) cost on average half a million dollars. No joke.. Thats where our rego fee's go to.

But why does the government get/allow companies to own the roads? Because they don't have the money themselves???

When the fuel excise or tax whatever it is was brought in, that was meant to go towards the roads - didn't last long. :thumbs down:

Governments keep saying "we don't have the money - we'll have to raise taxes". I'm sick of being taxed to death just so politicians can buy more votes at the next election. Time we got back to a political system where the politicians managed the budget properly and just provided the basics. It's a bit like I'd like a super widescreen 3D LED TV - but I'm still running with the CRT jobbie because that's what my budget is - and I still get to watch TV when I want to.

I'm glad KRuddie is gone because he pissed a lot of taxpayers money up against the wall to keep a few vocal minorities happy.:tut:

Guess I'm running more energy about that than than I realised ;)

Cheers

I am sitting here at work ATM on a break so I have pulled out a WA rego renewl as I spent 8 days over there assessing hail damage. Basically they have 2 types of rego the first one is called a "Private Rate" and is set at $442.84 for 12 months for a 4cyl and then we have a Standard rate for vehicle used and regitered under a business which is set at $522.45 for 12 months. According to WA vehicles used for business use are on the road more than privately owned vehicles therefore will pay more and are able to collect the tax benifit for it where as the average privately driven vehicle will pay less as it does not spend as much time on the road and no tax benifit can be claimed. Simple yet effective the more you use the road the more you pay. Just goes to show how dumb and money hungry this government is in QLD. Bend over everyone here comes Anna with another dumb idea that is going to cost us the earth.:hit head:

But what about the fact that most of my k's ate done in another state....why should I pay per k in qld when most are done in NSW??? That's the main reason the per k system would not work...

If the rego and licencing system was moved to a federal system and rego and licence renewals where the same nationally with a budget given to each state per year thenaybe that would work. What I have never been able to understand is why a v8 rego is more then a v6....the weight differance is minimal and there is really no justification for the price differance...

not really cuz fines would out weigh the cost of rego so revenue would be higher again, my thoughts are ...........well once again will keep to myself once i get started then yea ill never shut up but i blame bligh and gillard lmao
