hey guys changed my gear box oil today it was easy as tools needed SOCKET DRIVER, OIL,OIL TRAY, CHEAP OIL FOR A FLUSH,JACK AND 4 STANDS, and a fluid pump and beer not to much as you want to test drive it first go for a drive when warmed up jack car up both front and back put on stands make sure its level next drain oil from gear box with socket wrench only then put back in when fully drained nut is located under neath to the rear of box then undo the full up nut located on passenger side half way down box put approx 4 ltr of cheap dex 111 oil with fluid pump put nut back start car and idle at about 2 grand for about 45 seconds then of it gives it a washing machine effect do this for about 10 to 15 min then change the oil like before I used PENRITE gear box oil 70 for the good oil when putting the nuts back in use tape on the thread or lock tight put 4 ltr through the full up plug then put 0.5ltr through the reverse switch which is located on the driver side of the box unplug the switch and remove the switch put half of liter through here then put tape on thread you don't need to put the half in but i did I think that is it it now drives smooth no rattle smooth gear changes :thumbs up: will keep you up dated on how the oil is going

Great write up Craig. I have been wanting to change the oil in mine to a decent one as I think the 6 Speed in mine is a little clunky. It was suggested I change to something like Royal Purple to see a big improvement. Is your step of the 'flush' important. Someone offered to change mine for me and only asked me to get the new oil - not the 'flush' oil as well.

yeah it is pretty important i just used a cheap dexon 111 it had taken an extra 30 min the guys from main lube recommended to do a flush there is a good article on the penrite gear oil 70 on ls1 forum my gear box is so much quieter and the shifts are smooth
