when tax time comes ill be upgrading the "treble reble" speakers in the VS :), just wondering what everyone would recommend?
been a long time since iv been in the suberage game lol, but thinkin about using either Alpine, Pioneer or Fusion subs, and i have no idea what amp im looking for
pretty much i want 2 x 12" subs in a custom boot install, new speakers for the back parcel shelf, new speakers for the front doors and new tweeters, already got a JVC headunit and i need an amp to run it all.
what do you recoomend?
budget will be in between 500 - 1000 ( but want to keep prices down as i need my zorst done and a few other things )

hey mate, for that price you can rule out alpine sorry.
Id go something like this maybe
2 x Kenwood 12" subs 800w max, 150w RMS $69 each x 2 = $138
Pioneer Monoblock Gm8400 300W RMS @ 4 ohm $399 (you'll need to check if the subs run at 2 or 4 ohms i forget)
Pioneer 6*9's 40W RMS $99
Kenwood 4" Speakers $29.00 (if you don't have the 6inch door pod speakers)
$665 plus sub box. should go alright.

for a decent, and cheap system, try these,:
Aerpro 4 guage wire kit, $50-150,
clarion 6" splits in the front, $200,
pioneer 6" 2/3 ways in the rear shelf, $100-150,
pionner 800w monoblock/ kenwood 800w 4 channel amp, $300-600,
dual Fusion 12: subs, $200-300 each,
prefab box, $50-100 each,
custom box, $200+.
or make the box urself, $50 a sheet of 12mm MDF.
Autobarn has most of the gear, or try Strathfield for some specials. there is always sales on at these places, where ya can get the gear cheaper than retail..
also try JB-HIFI. always have deals and can match most other audio mobs..:)
if ya want a hand to install or wire it up, just ask me pete.. im sure i can help ya along the way..:)

yeh i was chattin to a fella in at JB strathpine, 1 x alpine with box is $129 but can do duel 12's for $200 ( i think he said ) he said when the time comes just go around and grab prices of what i want at different stores then come to him and he'll match it and take 10% off which is pretty good in my opinion, i wouldnt mind either alpine or fusion, would rather fusion due to past years rep about them and their quality.
Also going to make a custom boot install myself, got a few ideas in mind to have max boot space but not sacrifice sub box ltrs and to keep it light.
and thanks for the offer about wiring up, but i have a in-house weather radar builder ;) :D
Strati - dont really want to go kenwood subs, have had mates had nothing but issues with them ( but then again iv had a few that praise them, i also dont like the look of them )

They really do have alot of kick Ive got there last years subs and there just single voice coil, but there other twin voice coil subs pump out alot more. There 6inch and so on are good to BUT! if your getting a sub you really really dont need 6x9s there just going to robb you of bass there just fillers for when subs cant be used
I know theres alot to think about but what are you after with your audio gear and what kind of music do you play? All these thing will play a big roll between good clean sound and just doof doof crap noise
and the total cost???

Stick with 12s then lol but forget 6x9s
Im sure theres lots of people that will have a different look on car audio
But I say response for amps and in car speakers and TK tronnics for amp kits. Just make sure you get a good/great amp kit,
most of your money should go on that as you can spend a shit load on gear but if you dont have good wires going in place, Well your just shit out of luck.:hit head:
If you're gonna have a sub id stay away from 6x9's.
I ran a cheap set of Xplod splits as my rear channel. Danm happy with them even after 4 years. I mounted the tweeters up along the strip that runs between the pillers.
Less fucking around cutting bigger holes plus maintains the factory look.

Hey mate, send me a PM if your in need of subs. I have 2x DD 2512's in a custom Bandpass box for sale. It's built for a VS, coz I had it in mine and ran a 145.9 in a DB Comp. It's run by a responce amp nicknamed 'the black bitch' purely for the power the could pump.
I have some DD W6.5 splits aswell, but they require a custom install to fit coz the magnet is a monster. Their new and never used, I never had the funds for a custom door install.
If your REALLY keen to make noise tho, I'll sell you a DD 9512... 2000wrms will reduce your hearing tho, and will definetly increase your chances (and everyone else around you) of being deaf, permanently! :hit head:
Let me know if your keen and I'll let you in on more details...
