Well, the job is done. 224/230 cam and FAST LSX-R manifold are installed.
I'm loving it. Has a great sound, very driveable, but has some poke when pushed.
And the result...... 308rwkw.
Thanks to Kent, Chris and the rest of the boys at Hi-Torque.
Will get some pics up soon but most can see it on Sunday.

cheers mate.
Based on the HT Dyno night and the run today, it has gained 60kw

So any reports of the fuel economy or lack of it, with the new cam?

Yeh that Isky cam spec of Hi Torque is pretty trick eh - aparently same as mine with A6. Power yet drivability rolled into one, can't ask for better than that.
Did you go double row valve springs, and 25% underdrive?

Cant really comment because all travel so far has been on the highway, having a play, the cruise etc etc. I filled up on the Gold Coast on Saturday lunch, drove around, had a play, drove home, did the cruise, had a play, didn't take an exit, went back did some other bits and pieces and then finally got home. I had to fill up again on Monday afternoon. Yesterday I had to drive back down the coast and then I did my drive to and from work today and it hasn't reached half yet. So it's not bad IMO. As for week to week usage I'll let you know.

Mine went from 10 litres per 100 to 11 litres per 100 on the highway. Not much difference in the real world for the power enhancements gained (almost 100 rwkw improvement from when it was stock off the showroom floor - thats a 1/3rd in total increase over stock figures - not up with the forced induction folk but is usable power).
Adam's is slightly ahead of mine but is in keeping with a manual versus auto configuration.:thumbs up:

Yeah, I'd agree with that statement. Mine's actually a little more. Mind did less than 200 on the original stock run. The final Powertorque run with MAFless tune, cats, headers, MR Muffler F1, Ziggy OTR went to 256. Then in February we had the HT dyno run and it did 247. Now, on same dyno, with cam, springs and Manifold it has jumped another 60kw at the wheels.

Wow you went Fast manifold - I'm impressed mate, no wonder you outdid my figures - just jokin. Any thoughts on going to the bigger throttle body? Its all way beyond my budget, but as I hear it not a bad enhancement to have as the two compliment each other?

I suppose at the end of the day it all just depends on what your goals are with your car. I never used to care about the fuel consumption when I was running my Monaro as it always used to run on LPG. I probably need to get a hold of the Impco rep again and ask him about fitting a 2nd LPG converter to my Calais so it can run all the way through to redline without switching back over to fuel. I think I'll probably do that as a starting point before I do any major mods.

Best fuel economy to power ratio is the current run of high performance diesels. Some of their performance figures are phenominal. LPG is old school and counter productive for a true power machine (cheap fuel cost though).

Yeah I will. The 102 FAST TB. I have Kent getting me pricing at the moment

Haha funny all you guys talking about fuel economy I get 22ltrs per hundred ks and about 300ks to a tank but having 800nm of torque and about 313rwkw is worth it haha.:thumbs up: Good to see your having fun with it Adam.

Do FAST do a 102 in the 'Drive-by wire' throttle bodies? I thought they only do the cable style ones.

Yes I know what you're talking about with the diesels. My parents recently bought a turbo diesel sedan for running about. Its probably got too much power for the size and weight of the vehicle though.
I fully understand your opinion of LPG and most people would have that view, that LPG cant make horsepower. It actually cant physically make more power than petrol because the amount of energy it contains is less than petrol.
There are obviously other fuels out there that are true power producing fuels though but usually arent road legal.

Isn't BlownVE selling a 102mm Throttle Body? I'm sure it didn't have many km's on it...
Good to hear you got the cam package done, can't wait to see it at C4C.

Good work Adam,
Look what happens when i'm away from the site for a little bit for my baby to be born.
As Mick VZ008 you guys talking fuel consumption, on a good day mine is upwards of 23L/100, but you all know the reasons for that.. i know i know the heavy foot.:woohoo:
But good to see some more power Adam. I will definatly catch up with you guys soon. Just getting on our feet after the birth.
Cheers

manifold............ Yeah I know...... ;)
Dave....lol. Yeah it has come up very well. Having the well known AC belt problem at present but Kent says he has a solution.
I am not complaingin about Fuel Economy. If I am honest it hasn;t really gotten that much worst around town. Obviously it does when I have a play which I obvioulsy did in the first week. But last weeks fuel usgae was exactly the same as previous.
I'll get some pics up of the manifold and rails soon.

Once again, I have to thank Kent and the boys. Dropped in yesterday and they have put the fuel rails and line on and an updated pulley to try and stop the AC belt coming off (Common problem it appears for VE's when getting engine power upgrades like cams).
Looks great and as usual a pleasure to deal with. Thanks guys.

Do you think the fitment of an underdrive pulley set would alleviate this problem? Or do you already have one of these fitted?

Mick, one was put on at the time of the cam going in. It appears it might be part of the problem...... Kind of.
From talking to the Kent, when adding heaps of horsepower to the VE, they love to throw the belt.

There is a part that is being made to stop this. I have had it fitted thorugh Power torque and it hasnt come off again. I think from memory $99-$150ish.
I think it is due to a tensioner that is not there anymore - holden cost cutting..:tut:

Dave, the belt certainly felt tight on the pulley.
Speak to Kent. He has put a new pulley on which actually has a lip to stop it coming off.
