View Full Version : Work on Carbon's VE - new 'x' pipe

With the Cam going in next week, I decided to get Mal to fit his new 'X' pipe design to my existing F1 system. It has just been done.
Straight away it sounded different, and that was in idle. Not excessively but I felt it sounded a little deeper. Under full load though, I have been told it sounds awesome. :headbang:
But what I noticed on the way home was that my car seemed a lot smoother. I cant explain it. I dont know how that is even possible and I hope Mal may be able to shed light on his new product but I honestly did notice it.
Once again great service from Mal and Kel. Even got to talk to Big Jim for a couple of hours and pick his brain.
Thanks heaps guys.

Having been driving with a cracked pipe and muffler that has been repeatedly repaired and Weld Stiched, I can assure you adam that the gas flows or lack of it does make a difference qnd that is amplified when cammed, somewhat akin to having melted cats within the line = Mal could tell you more on my see through cats and the substrate we found in the rear resonators (reality is a Bayside Performance Service BPS Lean Tune Issue) lol..
Mine is a literal dog to drive atm, surges, stalls and stops on shift change at idle etc. It was silky smooth about a month ago but unfortunately is now nothing short of a hybrid between " a second hand lawnmower" and an ol fashioned "Chaffcutter" - I might invest in some earmuffs to offset the drone atm. For me thats three exhaust systems in a tad under four years (additional to the original Holden one) - go figure your own $$ versus outcomes maths.
I dunno what grade the SS is on current/previous F1 constructions but I am sick of it cracking at the "Hot End" on mine (I claim warranty issues at hand). A performance system should not be aimed at the "Miss Daisy" and the "Sound Alone" elements, more that a performance system should cater to the worst case scenario users; not the massive HP clan that never blast beyond a minutes heavy work cause of heat and fear of something breaking, nor the 400 metre strip runners who load up for a mere 12 seconds. Running a car truely hard is way beyond both these scenarios.
Mine is s full SS F1 system with Ceramic coated Pacemaker Headers as sheizerloads of people know. Time for a change but I am sick of throwing bazillions of $$ to a basic piece of equipment such as an exhaust.
The abovementoned are just my views on it across almost 4 years, as Mr Muffler's test muling was very much based on the findings of the blue luxo VE which just happened to be mine in October 2006 when Brad owned the business.
I'm more than happy to discuss further via PM or phone Mal

Sounds like Big Jim is there alot. He spent all last weekend there fitting my new cam and heads. Picking up tommorrow now the tune is sorted. Pulled some very good numbers according to Mals text message this arvo. Would also like to thank Mal for his outstanding customer service, could not be happier. Sorry Adam for Hijacking your thread will start a new one when I get mine back. :woohoo:
Cheers Chris

Since Monday when I had some confirmation from Holden about something, I have had a renewed love of my car. Then add this exhaust mod and cam next week and I'm loving it. The car has been driving a lot better lately.
All you guys will be hanging next Wednesday for the maroons (or the blues if there is something wrong with you ) to win State of Origin. Me, yeah I'll be hoping the maroons win come 8pm but I would have just picked up my car from H-Torque. I love SOO but I can guarantee what will be providing the big smile on my dial that night.
