First of all, a big congratulations to DAF on winning the August COTM. Great to see another ute take out the honour!!!
And what a ute it is. Since purchasing his VU SS in December last year, Daf has performed quite a few mods to make it the great cruiser it is today, not top mention a nice promotions vehicle for his business, Auto Vehicle Maintainence.
Starting off with a fairly standard VU SS, he had a great platform to perform a variety of modifications. Being that the body was coated in the awesome factory black made things a little bit easier.
The 5.7ltr LS1 was treated to a variety of performance modifications, with the usual suspects being replaced. The ute was fitted with Pacemaker extractors, and a full twin 2.5" system exiting both sides of the ute. Nothing screams "tough" like twin pipes exiting both sides of your car. Helping the engine breathe a bit easier is a SS Inductions cold air kit and KnN filter.
What really gets you looking is the stance this ute has on the street. Fitted with 18inch VYSS rims, they set the overall look perfectly. But she is slammed on the ground, being dumped with superlows. The all important stopping has not been overlooked either, with slotted front and rear rotors beign installed.
Not content with the factorys stereo offering, or the aural entertainment that burbles out the exhaust, Daf has fitted a pretty comprehensive stereo in the ute. And lets be honest, there is only so much you can cram into a small cabin!!!!Starting off with a Panasonic head unit, it is backed up by Kenwood amp which powers the 12 inch 1000W sub and a set of 290W 6" splits in door and dash. Nice, effective and loud!!!
Performance out of the ute so far on the dyno has been an impressive 246 HP and 725ftlbs of torque.
Future mods Daf would like to perform include a new set of rims, and a edit and mafless tune. This should see a nice rise in power and performance.
