Hi Guys , I have a VE SS auto 2007, thinking of a putting in a cam.
It currently has extractors, high flow cats , 2 1/2 exh , Cai and Maf tune done by Power Torque ..

I am looking for more acceleration ( ie drags ). What would you reccomend ? I would prefer something subtle as the car appears stock and has stock auto.
What would be the cost and how long would you need the car to fit the cam etc..I am also open to suggestions if there are any extra's that could be fitted while the engine is in bits without going stupid on cost.

Any advise appreciated
Regards
Derek

Having had your tune done by power torque perhaps you should have a chin wag with them. They would be able to tell you of the power gains that could be expected with different cams and how driveability and economy is affected.

Power Torque pfft, been there years ago, over and over - then departed company forever!!!

My passion is that rediculous situation of a locked tune. A tune is individual to the car, the tuner just makes the most of what he can do - the vehicle owner PAYS for the tune and the time taken to do it - thats actually a purchase of a product or service by the car owner.

How can the tuner lock an ECU and claim that particular ecu for their own (which is what locking an ecu effectively does) - there is no Copyright involved, or if the tuner wants to pay for copyright that's fine, but they need to actually followthough due process and documentation (which would never suceed in approval) - its the car owner who is in control, not the provider.... No tuner worth his salt would even commence tuning a car by another tuner without completely wiping the ECU and actually starting again.

Consumer Affairs and Small Claims court would have field day with Tuners that lock a customer's ECU. If it happens to me again, thats exactly where I'm going.

My Hi Torque Tune is UNLOCKED - and is the way it "should be".

Man its my bandwagon hatred and have had lots of bad experiences with locked tunes from numerous tuners in Brisbane. I'm happy to discuss the matter with all and sundry.

yep, Mark (Powertorque) didn't lock my tune when he fixed my previous tune. It isn't unheard of but I dont think any of the tuners do it as much as they used to (if they used to)

they wouldnt want to as its anti competitive and thats against the law , even Holden cant lock out another company from your computer ( they can sh*t can your warranty but not deny access )

gonna have to get the cam now, got one bloody job and another one in talks.... 1 has company car or car allowance ( car allowance is a bonus , car becomes tax deduction ... engine repairs = cam= tax refund=more car bits )

Mate be assured, they definately used to and was the norm, and some still do.

Yes mate I know they used to but I know most dont now.

I guess I have been wondering if it is something to do with the earlier LS motors and the new ones or if it is simply something to do with something that has been suggested i.e. people pay for something so they own it....

I have sent through a PM with pricing. Some shops do lock there tunes to protect other people gaining access to ones knowledge, has it goods and bads the customer is paying for your knowledge so your paying extra above a dyno charge for this is why its not $50/hr for tuning but the customer can go else where and a up and coming tuner has the tune from your car which he can flash into another car with similar mods and the car runs.

In regards to camshaft i have a perfect auto camshaft which is in EVLGTS and CALAISRIDERS car drive great and perform well:)
