ok this will be the first time iv fitted extractors to a V6 ( pacemakers onto an ecotec ), iv done tons of 202/186 ( even a 100 pursuit ford motor in a XP  haha ) a few carb V8's in old kingswoods and all where fairly basic, bolt on stuff.

Looking at the V6 thou it looks a little more technical, just buy a quick look i may have to pull a few things off the car to fit them up, what i need to know

1. Can i use the same exhaust to engine bolts? ( i know when we where putting Gonzo's on a holden 308 we had to use longer bolts, and the 100 pursuit motor needed shorter bolts )

2. has someone got a step by step to removing and installing extractors?

any info would be good :)

It varies depending on what extractors you have as to if they are wrap around or not.

The std bolts should work.

but you should only have to take the std ones off to put the others...

If they are not wrap around you may need to drop the drivers side of your pwr steer rack.

often it's better to use proper extractor/header bolts - available from most exhaust shops. The standard bolt heads are sometimes too big and hit the header pipes.

yeh thats what i thought, ill grab some later depending if i do it or not, alot of people say its an absolute prick to do it yourself, but having a look it doesnt seem that hard ( considering there 3 peice paccie's )

have you got a Y peice for them????

If so and you bring the car down I will give you hand to fit them....unless you are up helping with some front spring changes on a VR??? then I might just come on up to you...

had a look this arvo and ill need a new cat (mines forked according to mr police man ), may as well get a larger diameter "Y" peice from extractors to cat as well.

The plan was just to get the redback cat back ( $125 off ebay and $40 to my door hehe ) and fit that up easily enough, then put the paccie's on, but speakin a mate up north thats a exhaust specialist his givin me a few insights as what to do to get the best out of it, so the plan now is, 2.5inch Redback cat back, with about 1.5ft cut off the rear, flange it, then will be replaced with a twin 2.5inch pipes out the back to twin 3.5inch dumped tips, the "Y" piece ( extractors to cat ) is i think 2inch, it will be put up to a 2.8inch through to a Ganelli highflow cat ( his used this setup on his VS berlina, hardly any drone, and a nice barky note thats not to loud to attract attention ), with most V6's with sports exhaust and extractors they loose sound up in the high RPM range ( about 40% sound is lost i think it was ), with this set up it'll have noise through out the rev range :D hehe

so not at the moment Chris thanks anyway, but i may call on ya when i got it all together :), ( and might have to put it off yet, car blew abit of smoke this arvo :(, think one of my oil rings has just about had it, so over this motor, cant wait to go 5ltr )
