The Munch Inn thread

The Munch Inn is a fairly common Friday meetup for us, so I've made this a sticky thread dedicated to it rather than have half a dozen new threads.
So if you plan on heading out, feel free to post it up here to let others know and they might meet you out there.

For those who aren't familiar with the Munch Inn, it's located on the corner of Beaudesert Rd & Elizabeth St, Acacia Ridge (just before the railway line crossing, r/h/s outbound direction) It's a small shopping centre with a good size carpark - holds hundreds of cars. Has a great cafe there that runs until around 9.30-10.00pm on a Friday night. Usually a really big turnup there (I've seen the entire carpark full on a couple of occasions) generally orientated more towards old skool and V8's rather than the imports - which suits us just fine! And plenty of excellent quality cars there too. I even saw a blinged up prime mover there on display one night! Behaviour there is also usually really good compared to some spots. Lots of people bring their kids out for a look as well.

The night starts fairly early - usually around 6-6.30pm and the carpark tends to empty around 9pm at the latest. So plan on getting there fairly early if you want to see the show.

We meet at at Calamvale Village Shopping Centre (2) When you drive in, Maccas is on the left. Go round the roundabout (dont go down to the undercover carpark) and then park somewhere on the left (or look for me)(and yes it is a finished shopping centre now)

This means the guys from northside will come down the gateway and take the Compton Rd exit (1) and then turn right heading up to the shopping centre (2). Munchinn is (3)

it's usually fairly quiet mate if the weather is a bit suspect
if it's not much of a drive for you, might be worth a check. But unlikely there will be many there

hi daren, i normally park outside the tab or ig supermarket. that's where the most light is. basicly depends on what time you get there is where you can park. last time i went there was no lighting at all down the bottom end of the park and everyone was cracking up about it. cheers alan

Just doesn't sit well sitting around with lotsa top notch cars just parked and somewhat on show, tjhen just heading 0ff to maccas for a feed and drink. I prefer activity involving the car/s doin somethin active. Hence I won't be there. A Friday night cruise would interest me though.

Was a great night and good to see so many cars there. It was also good to see a few from BCCC turn up as well. I am hoping that in the future we can turn Friday nights into a fairly regular thing where we can perhaps plan to show up maybe at least once a month and have a bit of a social event there for our members? For those who were there tonight it was good to catch up and meet people I have been trying to catch up with for a while and also for those I have already met. If we maybe organized the last Friday of the month to start with then we could set up one area for BCCC and even put up a banner or two? What does everyone else think?

Pete for those who enjoy the social aspect of Munchies it is great and I think we who showed up tonight actually enjoyed it. It's fine if you prefer not to come to it. The Munchies nights happen regardless of whether or not we turn up. It's a good excuse to turn up and catch up and socialize. If you don't want to that's perfectly okay too. :) I can't make all of them but I enjoy the ones I do go to.

Indeed it was a good night, good show of cars, from all eras and classes. Was great to finally meet a few of the club.

I agree Andrew, a once a month thing where we could get together in an area and "have a show of strength/unity/whatever" would be a great idea imo. Could also maybe help to rally a few more members.

To float another idea, maybe we could do a Munchies group-up and cruise from there once a month(or even alternate months). Get there for 6pm (ish) and cruise off at 7pm (ish) to who-knows-where. Just a thought...

I'm usually kind of like Pete, where I'm not much into the stagnant car show things, but I find the Munch Inn a lot different. It's just got a really good atmosphere, there's a really good diner, a huge variety of cars to look at, and it's a good opportunity to chat with other members - which is often not so easy at the cruises because the cruises by nature have a lot of driving involved.

Was a great night. The little fella slept most of it but I'm sure in time and many more outings he'll be jumping in the driver seat revving me up to get going to the next event. Shame we missed the Lamborghini! Those cars have been a dream for me since I can remember. Still got my poster of one from my bedroom of younger years...... Had a great night. Looking forward to next outing with the club.
