Hi all,

Welcome to the BCCC, spirit power cruise, i have been looking at a cruise that is dedicated to spirited driving. The compliant vehicles need to be well maintained, set up appropriately, and a safe and conchess driver is required.:)

I am looking at a similair trip that CARBON organise up through lions rd or back thru glass house mountain were the last cruise was blocked due to floods " Adam this time we can plan to see the train come thru at 8:30am, or get thru the otherside of the bloods, for those that done the lunch by the sea cruise".

BCCC fans this is a real test of car, not due too silly driving, but sensible and challenging roads & mountains, not for the faint hearted.

I am looking at suppling some lunch thru my businesses, hence lunch maybe no BISTRO C but salad/rolls/meats and drinks at about $4 per person.

I want to see interest in either cruise
NORTH-Kenilworth
SOUTH-Lions rd

peoples choice, and i will set up, happy to do a Saturday cruise for those that prefer, due to work and family issues?numbers will dictate what day.

PRE warned it will be exilarating....................

please let me know your ..
Day-
Destination-

have and safe driving

cheers
Paul

If I am honest, I wouldn;t do the Lions Rd anytime soon. It was aweful. The drive itself would absolutely spectacular if done with decently maintained roads. Even the road from sort of Springbrook to Kyogle were rubbish. Again, great driving roads just not well maintained.

Personally I like the cruise route I have organised a number of times which can be run either clockwise or counterclockwise.

Counterclockwise, you start at Petrie then head out and over Mt Mee, then out to Kilcoy, Blackbutt and then Yarraman before heading southwest to Cooyar for Lunch at the pub. Then continuing along the New England, you turn left at Hampton and head to Esk. Here you head north and go over the northern side of Wivenhoe before heading south and going up Mt Glorious and Nebo.

I love this run and have organised it twice on LS1. Be fore warned that it is a long day and full day of driving. It is quick and hilly in areas (like Mt Mee) and then long open plains (like around the dam). But it is certainly worth the effort. Hardly any roads were bad. The only thing I dont like about it is how to finish it off.

:)

I'd like to do Mt Barney, Woodenbong and the Lions Rd.

Haven't been down that way for a whilse now.

Yeh its challenging, but some fantastic sights and scenery; and all three elements combine to make a great run and nice day out.

IMO the issue with the Crows Nest route is that quite a lot of it is merely "Set the Cruise Control" country if you are to protect your licence.

I agree Pete but at least my rims aren't going to crack or my shocks fall to bits.

Honestly, that road was just terrible when Dave, me, Paul and Ross did it a few weeks back. Potholes big enough to swallow small cars. I could understand if only the lions road wasn't maintained but all the other roads leading to it were just as bad.

Any more news Paul on your proposal. I'm def keen on the Kenilworth one because I simply haven't been that way yet. We could use part of that route that I proposed for the XR day because that has completely changed.

From a personal point of view, can't do the 1st of May, 8th is the Fulcrum day and the 14th is track day at QR. But just because I cant go obviously doesn't mean dont do it on one of these weekends

Geese it must have deteriorated big time. I know its a whilse since i've been there hence the interest. I suppose all the rain over the past 6 mths must have taken its toll. Oh well not to worry, there will a run down that way sooner or later.

Agh, I've polled previous. Better take mine out and put it to Kennilworth. :o

I think it simply had to do with how much rain we have had since chrissie time Pete.
