Next Major BCCC event: Joint Cruise XR Owners Club of QLD and BCCC
As some would be aware, we recently entered into what we are hoping shall be a long term friendship with the XR Owners Club of QLD. These guys are a very professional unit. we have organised a cruise and BBQ on the 20th June and would love as many people as possible to attend. I am going to try and get some coverage of it if we can make it a massive turnout.
So, please, head to the calendar, find the event and RSVP. It will be a great day. You have a month to organise yourselves.
Here are some photos of the new fully sealed section of Razorback road which leads down from Montville onto Hunchy Road.

As we should all know by now, all event details are in the calendar. However, seeing we have decided to make this cruise help a cause, I thought I would share the details here as well.
As most of you would be aware on Sunday 20th June 2010 our club will be having a combined cruise with the boys and girls from the XR Owners Club. The cruise will be up around the lovely Sunshine Coast. On the day we will be having a sausage sizzle for lunch and all we will ask of you for the sausage sizzle is a gold coin donation. Any profits that are made from the sausage sizzle between both clubs we have decided to donate to a young girl whose name is Tasha.
Tasha's family live on the northside of Brisbane so it will not only be a get together with our new friends from the XR Club but a northside run for a northside girl. A trip for Tasha.
Tasha is nine years old and suffers from Optic Nerve Hypoplasia (ONH) and Cerebal Palsy. Tasha is totally blind which means she has a complete lack of form and visual light perception. She can only walk if she is aided. She cannot feed herself and is only able to eat pureed food.
Doctors in Australia explained to Tasha's parents that there was no chance that she would be able to see but they never lost hope of one day giving her the ultimate gift of sight.
Then one day Tasha's mum Renee, discovered a story about children going to China to receive treatment for ONH which is offered at Beike Biotech, China. This treatment utilises stem cells to encourage the growth of a patients own regenerative cells. Tasha's parents then found out that these treatments not only offer hope and gift of sight but can benefit patients with Cerebal Palsy.
Unfortunately this treatment is expensive. They need to raise $59,000 for Tasha's treatment and related costs. As a struggling young family they are relying on the generosity of the public for support and funding. Since October last year when they started their crusade the family has managed to raise $39,000, so they are still $20,000 off their goal. Tasha's parents have paid the deposit for her treatment and have her booked in for her treatment the beginning of September 2010 but if they cannot raise the last $20,000 in the next 7 - 8 weeks, it will be all over for them for this year. They would then have to re-apply to the government for another sanction that will allow them to conduct fundraising activities. This will see them waiting until next year to go to China.
The family's goal is for Tasha to see them, especially her mother who has nurtured her from birth. They would love for Tasha to have her sight by Xmas. Even if Tasha gets only light perception from the treatment at least she would have the ability to tell light from dark and the general direction of a light source and who knows if they even have greater success Tasha might be able to walk unaided and feed herself - something that most of us take for granted.
With the profits from the sausage sizzle going towards helping Tasha we encourage everyone to give whatever they can to help meet the target. As has been said they only have 7 - 8 weeks to raise the final $20,000 so time is running out fast. If the family achieve the magic total of $59,000 they need to be in China by the 24th August 2010 for Tasha's treatment to go ahead.
It doesn't matter how little, every cent is a step closer to giving the family the opportunity of giving their beautiful little girl the gift of sight.

Just an update
We will be holding a massive raffle on the day. At this stage I am looking at making it a winner take all monster raffle. But I may change my mind. Our sponsors are being very supportive of the raffle. Meguiars for example have given me $250 worth of product while Mr Muffler and GSL have also responded quickly. I have no doubt the others will all contribute meaning it will be a very impressive prize for the lucky winner.
Raffle tickets will be $4 each or 3 for $10. To encourage people to attend, to win the raffle you must be there.
Also, some will already know we have a page on Facebook. If you didn't and have a FB profile, please search for the club and join the page. You will also notice I have added the event on FB so please RSVP on there also.
Cheers

In raffle news, we have now received stuff from PWR, Pedders and Joel from Motorama has led me to believe they are contributing something from the Lions Den.
And in more personal news.... My car will be in its new build..

i will organise for Springwood only if enough people warrant it. I have a number of members who usually meet me at HJ's. So, I give till Thursday lunch to voice where it shall be. Otherwise I will choose.

Unfortunate, you both have to pull out it.
I have spent a lot of time today talking to the XR guys and I can see in excess of 60 cars (based on suggested numbers). We have a great raffle on offer and the Ford Sponsors have kicked in for a raffle.
I will have some info up tomorrow. It is going to be an awesome view for oncoming traffic. We will be going Ford/Holde/Ford etc. I cant wait....
Also had confirmation from Kent today that 4 Hi-Torque cars are coming along.
Look forward to seeing all those coming and all the new members and Facebook members attending.

I can't commit 100% by the cutoff today, won't probably know until tomorrow if I can make it or not. So I will also bring my own lunch etc to avoid causing any catering probs.
I would really like to make it though, so will let you know Adam asap

Mate I cokked up. I thought I was doing the skin cancer treatment reigime commencing next week, but it was started yesterday. The pre-requisite of staying out of the sun may be difficult on the cruise and b.b.q. Squidding is ok as its a night time thing. I'm pretty well out of any day events for a month.
Sorry, I was fully intending to go all along.

Mate I will see how the treatments is progessing by Sunday. If not too far advanced I will do the run but sun exposure is all important and I can't adequately describe how important.
But have to be back at Victoria Point by 3pm for another gig starting at 4pm through 10pm on the same day...
PS
Those rules for this run seem fairly harsh and very dicatorial, which is becoming the norm here, but...rules is rules I suppose. It's certainly not condusive to me being lured to putting in a major effort to be there.

Sorry Pete. Have you got a better solution for me. Shane and I are trying to keep 60 cars at of the poop. We want you a many people there as possible but we want people to have a good time.
I only read your initial reply and didn't understand what Derek was talking about until I came in here.
You think I'm running a dictatorship here now? Say the word mate. I'll soon hand it over
