do you spend your left over spare time in the shed tinkering around under a bonnet? trying to make something beautiful out of a heap that is in some desperate need of some TLC? perhaps your building a burnout car in your garage? i know there's plenty of you out there. so let the world know where you go when the missus cant find you for half a day.
note: working on your daily doesn't count.;)

I myself am building a drift car out of my old VS (which i have nicknamed project "outcast") . some of you may remember the car from before i got my SS. I have finally landed myself in a position where i have a space at home to work on a car. however, as always, funds are probably the biggest issue. so this project is Super budget with a capital "SUPER". The other issue is finding a way to get the car down to the track without having to pay big $ for car trailer hire.
the other interesting fact is, i have never drifted before. i have a fair bit of circuit racing under my belt but most of that time was spent trying not to slide out:D.
as far as im concerned, for the near future, all i want to do to the car before she goes out on track for the first time is mini-spool the diff, put smaller mags on her (for the sake of cheaper tyres), and put race seats and harnesses in it to stop me falling out the window. then i will be happy to take her out on track and see where i need to go from there. I'm also currently tinkering around with the power steering system to ensure it copes with the stress.
short term goal is to have it out for archy practice nights mid this year. long term goal is to compete at powercruise next year. and just have a load of fun in the meantime.
i will create a profile for it on "members rides" when i can get some decent pics. cheers...

Bringing back an old thread.
I've got the '88 Pontiac Firebird (base model no body kit) in the shed that I tinker with. It was up to recently a daily driver. Has had 3 owners that I am aware of (including myself) and is in need of a major overhaul.
I keep it serviced regularly and it runs great. Did have a HO bonnet on it but sold that and put it back to stock so it's running a flat bonnet.
I've wanted one since I first saw Knight Rider and fell in love with the lines of the car. From that I saw Smokey and the Bandit 3 and that was it I simply had to have one. Knowing what I wanted to achieve with it I secured this one bit over 2 years ago. I've replaced the shocks and bushes, radiator and obligitory worn out stuff like that. I wanted to paint it Black and Gold like Bandit 3 but I've seen the '91 Firebird Medium Green and love it. It is a little similar to the Poison Ivy which I also love so I thought I had a colour locked down but plenty of time to work out those finer details.
She's running a 305 TBI which I want to swap for a Chevy 350 or an LS1 would be nice too. Decisions decisions....... It's a 4 speed auto and has no guts whatsoever! Hyundai's can pass this thing but it a nice cruiser (except for looking worse for wear).
Plans for interior are Black leather interior, black carpets, reline the headliner in black, dark tint etc.
I saw an Alpine Transam doing the show circuit back in the late 90s and that made me want to go Blue and it look sweet! But back on track......
I don't tinker as much these days as the SS is only a couple of weeks old and it is getting most of my attention atm. The missus is into cars almost as much as me and wants to help with the Pont and she'd love a HQ GTS to rebuild together. See what the future brings I say. Santa may just pop in one xmas!
Anyways, that is my project car tale for now. There will be more to come in time but I am in no rush on this one. Bit at a time and when $ allows. Once the SS is up to scratch I'll start focussing on the Bird again.
Cheers, :cigar:

This is what I tinker with in the shed.
I run it in the occasional hill climb and street sprints.
Entered in Leyburn Sprints and Pittsworth Sprints.
Runs a much modified 3.8 Buick V6, T5, VL 4 pinion diff with billet axles and the car is fitted with VT brakes and power steer.
The car weighs in at around 1150kgs.
