There are a couple of easy ways to have fun and participate in motorsport at a level that improves you manouvering and car control skills prior to heading into track sprints and circuit work.
The first is the Luxo playing Motorkhana

My biggest issue is forgetting the actual course. In the one below I was doing fine right to the last flag, then doubted myself as to going the right way - so I stopped and re-grouped. Not good for times but a wrong way is a heavy penalty under the points system for winning.

Both of the abovementioned car sports are tougher than they look. Give it a try - you may find like me that you get adicted to it...
I hasten to add that in my opinion Circuit Sprint events are far more testing and challenging of driver skill and car setup than Drags. To my mind, whilst its a ton of fun, Drags are reasonably static in line with the mods you have or can offord to run a straight line for 400 metres.
I will post in this section when various events I know of are on offer, and those that I'm participating in.
