Tambo / Spit Cruise - Sunday 4th April 2010

Hey guys, Its been a while since we have visited the spit. So lets make a day of it and go back. Via Mt Tambourine.

Im happy to cover the costs of the snags, etc. If anyone wants to bring other stuff feel free though..


Date: Sunday 28th March

Location: The Spit

Meeting Points

Northside:
Shell Servo at Nudgee meet at 9am - 9:30 departure
Southside, meet at springwood Maccas (lonestar carpark) at 9:30 Depart once northsiders rock up

North and south side will depart springwood, and head down the highway, taking the coomera exit, and up into Mt Tamborine that way.
I will provide maps on the day for those who want them.
Once through tambo, we will head back down, through nerang, back up to smith street and head into the spit that way....

Food: As ive stated, i will provide all sausages,bread, onions etc.
so food is free, if anyone wants to bring other stuff to chuck on the bbq feel free.

Anyone is welcome, and if you dont have a ride, or car is broken, or no licence, speak up, im sure we can organise i lift for you.

New members that can not post in this area, PM me if you want more information, feel free to come. Its a perfect chance to get validated so you can post... This event is open to All forum and club members.

Just a reminder to be on your best behaviour on seaworld drive and the spit loop, sheesh I've seen some people "done" there (unmarked cars, roadworthy and all that stuff). Having said that, I am a regular to the location.

Soookk (just jokin). Simply go slow with the throttle and your car will be fine Paul. They don't do "random" checks, mainly kids posin stuff that gets their attention and followup.

for those whom are worried about the fuzz please remember that on the GC they usually only pull up the cars doing stupid things...in 4 years I havnt been pulled up by GC police even in the 300ZX...

Yeh I've been bustin my headspace at work with nutso long hours put in of late. Would be great to do a special run in the mountains with a destination of the Spit for a bit of Aussie tucker and drink by the water, tall yarns and short stories plus a bit of cricket, fishin and snorkel or a bodysurf to unwind. :D

I can't convince you for a Monday run when the crowds won't be so bad can I?

Umm, yeh, is it on or not on?

If it "is" I will be there on the BCCC Cruise, if "not" I will probably still be down on the GC somewhere doin a bit of fishin, surfin and R&R; stopping off at Burleigh, Currumbin and finishing at the Tweed, with a return home through Springbrook and Numinbah Valley.


I was at home most of the day today - I have learned that I am not going to make a great retiree, gotta be out doing things, staying home is boreing.

Thats my dinner for tomorrow night Derek, all filleted and in my fridge ready to go Surprising how thick the fillets are. A bloody great catch considering the crowds and boat traffic happening on the day. Yeh, Yeh, I got a few snags and flogged the water with lures to no avail LOL.

We should get a BCCC fishin fun day happening!!!



Hmm, the home trip/cruise was good for me (akka VE precision driving team). The route was down through the Surfers Paradise Strip and associated sights. Up along the Springbrook Mountain twister scenic run; down through the majestic Numinbah Valley , then out along the Beechmont Volcanic Scenic Rim, , onward to Canungra and Mt Tamborine. A quick stopover needed, then down through Tamborine's rainforest and on over to Beenleigh, then home.

All good, except for my sway bar clanging and banging all the way; wheel alignment and sway bar fix happening this coming Tuesday !!!

Definately a route encompassing some of SEQ finest roads and scenery in my opinion. It took a tad longer than I expected with the "Random Breath Test" phase, then the bloody "Miss Daisy" heading up to Springbrook at 30-40 kph phase. Yeh its a fair cruise distance in itself, but at least it was sorta daylight when I got home.

This was the first time that I have had a convoy of VEs only, looked great through my rear vision mirror (a sign of the times me thinks). At last I'm not the odd one out anymore LOL. :p

I will post some pics of the Southport Spit section tomorrow.

All in all, a very nice day with great company along.

Wadever ya reken Alan. Not sure there was ever any inference within any of the above posts that conveys this is a VE club; and as any long termer of BCCC can attest, it's been quite the opposite for the past three years. Similarly, your VL car (yes they are all just "cars" regardless of type and year) is but one of a mixture within the club group which is great. Actually getting out and about/participating, meeting people and forging friendships is more important to me than the type of car anyone drives.

Hey Andrew, you were right!!!

My rear tyres were both underinflated (checked today). Seemed a tad squirmy and rolly on the mountain sections of the Easter Cruise albeit happening within designated speed limits, hence the check.

It's probably a remnant of when I was at skidpan the weekend before. All good and now rectified.

I am oh so looking forward to getting the front sway bar fixed, it bangs and clangs over every ripple or bump atm.

me and chris had a joke about this on the way down to the spit on the 2 ways, the vs and ve owners club of brisbane. LoL.

because on the last few cruises i have been on it has been mostly ve's and vs's.

but as pete said, it doesnt matter what cars are out on a cruise together, you are all there to represent the club and to enjoy commodores.
