Congrats to Mark, owner of SUSPCT VR SS, winner of May car of the month.
First of all what a brilliant all round package Mark has come up with. Most people would think the build period for such a monster would be months, even years. Believe it or not, Mark purchased this weapon in March of this year.
Starting out with what you would call a semi - finished car(well in his eyes) Mark has added his own touch of finese to end up with the result before your eyes today.
Originally starting out rolling off Holdens factory line, im sure they never envisioned what it has become today. Starting of with the factory 304ci engine and backed up buy an auto, thrown in with all the ss options such as fast glass, driving lights and all the rest one would assume you have already pimping ride.
Oh no though, pop the bonnet 13 years on and your faced with quite a different animal. The first thing that catches oyur eyes is the awesome STA blower taking its place in the engine bay. Along with the rest of the engine bay being detailed it is a rather welcoming place to be.
But deep inside the motor extensive engine work has been carried to prep this motor for its forced induction life, starting with forged pistons, and replacing everything inside bar the factory crank. A huge cam complements the blower in making the power this animal makes. The STA pumps cooler air into the engine with water injection helping to cool the inlet charge, and lets excess boost out through a GFB blow off valve.
How much power does this beast put down. Try 360 RWHP!!!!!Figures like that are awesome to say the least, but with a bit more tuning Mark hopes to hit that magic 400 mark, which only a few years ago was a Horsepower Heroes winning number. To add to the sweet whine of the blower, the exhaust is a art of its own. Starting with Pacemaker extracters, it splits into a twin 2.5 Inch Stainless Steel into 3 inch outlet which barks out an absolutly awesome grumble.
Sending power south from the animal up front goes through a T700 auto box fitted with a stage 3 shift kit, which then hits out to the stock lsd. Braking is standard at the moment.
Now to what attracts people to the car other than the awesome sound it puts out, the exterior. When it comes to ride height and wheel choice, it can make or break a car. Mark has hit the nail on the head right here. Starting with King super low springs all round, the ride height is slammed that much closer to mother earth. Keeping the body in touch with mother earth is a set of 18" XHP invaders which do the vr/s shape a massive justice. Mark has also replaced the standard ss badges with later model vx ones and replaced the holden emblems with hsv ones, which is a worthwhile modification. That awesome dark tint contrasts brilliantly against the white exterior of the car.
What youll be reading as he overtakes you are the perstige plates fitted to this ride which read "SUSPCT''. Suits the car rather well (and the owner :P )
Onto the interior and its all standard SS fare except for a few worthy changes. Up the a pillar a bosst gauge has been fitted to ensure Mark has a check on how much air the beast is ingesting.
The stereo is one department which hasnt been overlooked neither, not that the sound of a blown v8 could ever get boring, but if it does Mark has his bases covered. Starting up front he has a Pioneer DVD Unit with Pioneer 6.5" Motorised Screen, Pioneer front and rear 4 way 6" speakers, 1 x Alpine amp, 2 x kenwwod 12inch subs which keeps the tunes pumping nice and loudly while cruising.
And that pretty well sums up this beast, a nice , tidy great all rounder in this scribes opinion. I know he was going to hit the track soon so cannot wait to see the numbers. Hard to believe shes only got 91---klms on the clock too.!!!!!!!!!
Congrats mate a nice tidy car and good work being MAY CAR OF THE MONTH!!!
