Yet another awesome commodore to welcome to the cotm stable, and this writers favourite commodore model too !!!
From the outside this beast appears to be another tidy VK Calais, resplendant in striking silver paintwork. Not one to be content with the smooth lines of a timeless classic, Daf has fitted a full Brock bodykit to the calais, which hits it off perfectly. Rolling on a set of VY SS 18" rims is a great choice for the Vk shape and suit it well.
Bringing the whole sedan down closer to mother earth comes complements of lowered king springs front and rear with gt gas shocks, giving the VK that menacing stance. Stopping is a factor which Daf hasn't overlooked and has fitted the VK with vt twin piston calipers with 270mm rotors front and std disc rear, with slotted rotors front and back, ensuring the VK will stop when it has to.
Getting on to the heart of the matter, and when you lift the bonnet you are confronted with modern day technology. No carby 308 here, 304 cubic inches of the Generals fiinest fuel injected powerplant. Engine mods include but arent limited to a crow cam, and standard headers with 2.5" single system out the back.
Backing up behind the 304 is the trusty T5 gearbox, which sends power back to the Borg Warner limited slip diff fitted with 3.45 gears, giving the VK a good shove in the ass off the line.
But this car isnt just about mechanical mumbo, oh no Daf has taken care of the interior side of things as well. Fitted with a full custom dash with a complement of AutoMeter gauges ot keep an eye on all the engines vitals.
Busting out the beats comes courtesy of a Kenwood head unit, sending audio out through 4" kickers in dash. 6" kickers in rear and 10" kicker sub with amp.
In total the build period for this beast has been about 18 months.
Future mods Daf has planned for the VK are cold air intake, pacemaker pipes and twin system, interior retim and clean up paint work and body kit. Which i am sure will already make this fat car even fatter.
Great machine Daf, as i said VK's are my fav and im sure everyone will agree another well deserving COTM.
